Reviews for "Imperil"

Very good game, with good mechanics, the way the magic spells changed throughout the game was a good concept, however I feel as if this could have been put to better use if:
Instead of having 4 worlds, each with their own magic spell, leading up to a boss in World 4 who you fight with World 4's abilities,
You have the same concept, but you must you each magical spell to defeat the boss. For example, tou start off fighting with the platform spell, boss gets down to 1/4 health and now your fighting with the dimension swap spell etc.
Like what TURDO below me said

We actually planned that in the beginnig but because of the deadline we ended up not having enough time to figure out what to do, how to do it, and to actually do it. Instead I spent the time polishing the game and making sure there were no known bugs at release.

Very nice little game. I enjoy platformers with an interesting style and ambiance, and the monochrome cave ninja deal really did it for me. I thought the checkpoints came at good intervals and liked how each level was differentiated with different powers/puzzle types.

Only minor things I'd prefer otherwise would be:
1) I just like having the "jump" button on the same hand as left and right keys (ile. <a>, <w>, <d>). Just feels more natural to me. Sometimes my hands get confused when there are three or more buttons to activate attacks and powers.
Nice giving the option as to which button set to use though. My right arrow key broke recently, so the option to substitute <d> was convenient.
2) It would be nice to have a tiny bit more background or story to discover. Nothing super-long, no giant cut scenes or multiple paragraph expositions. But a little intro and maybe some hints about what the deal is with those life vendor guys or monsters and such would be nice.

Such a great game, good movement, adventure, sound and music, simple controls, good storyline. I found the boss a bit tricky, didn't know what to do, had to go through everything to figure that one out, but thankfully the health is very generous so you can make lots of mistakes and not die. Really good, not surprised it won pixel day!

Big thanks!

Great platformer game!!! The music and the 8bit graphs are so good and the special abilities save you more than once!
