Reviews for "MS03: Musical Skears"

it's okay

But the whole format in the beginning, with start and instructions were a bit sloppy. I didn't quite get what you're supposed to do, click on the things right?

AcidDimensions responds:

You're just meant to touch the purple skears with the cursor, whilst avoiding the red ones. If you touch a red skear, or a purple skear gets to the centre, you lose.

A few folk have commented on the text being hard to read or sloppy, but I don't want to just use comic sans, since then it would look just like everyone else's stuff...

Maybe I'll justhave to though.

You should try the incomplete version of Skears 2. That's probably explained better and it's got a few easy levels to ease you into the game.

To be honest, a lot of these later episodes are aimed at the folk who've already played Skears and just want more.

better

while its an improvement compared to the other skears games it still doesn't compare with rol-ovir 2 which kicks ass the music which you've added in lowers the score i preferred these games without sound and without it i'd have given it higher than a 5 probably a 6 and level 3 is way too easy

AcidDimensions responds:

I was rather disappointed that you didn't like the music. Whilst I expected that a few would find it annoying, it's still disheartening.

For the 5th game, I'll include some option to turn the sound off.

That way, I'll be pleasing everyone - hopefully including you.

You still need to get the hang of the scoring system so you can access all my bonus levels. The 5th Mini Skears game will by an easy one, so you can maybe learn on that...

very good

keep up the good work

AcidDimensions responds:

Thanks a lot.

I will.

awesome!

The only flaw is that the instructions were really vauge. I thought "you" meant the circle and I was drusterated trying to move it, until I reallized "you" reffers to the CURSOR! So, clear up the instructions, definitly. Did you compose that music yourself? Cause it's really good. The funky text style is neat, if a little dizzying to read. Otherwise, very orignal concept, and very nicley done, too.

AcidDimensions responds:

Thanks a lot for the nice comments about the music. I composed and played it all myself, and the future games are going to include re-mixes of the same basic theme.

I've straightened up the text a little for the next one after it was pointed out that they should be in a line, so hopefully it'll be a little easier to read after I've uploaded some changes.

I was going to change the instructions, but if I use the words 'the cursor' instead of 'you', then they won't sit nicely on a line. Still, I'll be giving the instructions a bit of a re-haul and hopefully make them easier to understand.

Thanks a lot for all nice comments and the suggestion. Hopefully, the next one will be even better.

Your score targets are a little strange

have you noticed that 10000 plus 15000 plus 23000 only adds up to 48000 and yet the 3 level total target is 50000? i don't understand why you've done this

Jay

AcidDimensions responds:

In Mini Skears 1 and 2, the level targets were basically the amount you'd get by not letting the multiplier drop at all. The total target needed to be slightly lower than the combined total of the level targets because you'd lose a few points through failing levels.

In this game, the level targets are more lenient. If you manage to keep the multiplier up for a whole level, you'll do better than the target.

So, basically, you should be able to pick up a couple of thousand points easily just by doing slightly better than required on any of the levels.

That's why I made the total target more than the total of the level targets - you need to do reasonably well, but there's a bit of leeway about in which level.

I hope that explains it all.

I'd be interested to know what you think the targets should be - if you have time could you drop me an e-mail?
