its an okay game.
the controls work fine.. jumps a bit floaty but manageable.
I did get an audio glitch of some sort.
The music kept overlapping and looping until it was an unbearable mess.
overal, nice game :)

Yeah... that audio glitch has occurred on me once before as well... The clashing sounds are not pleasant... I suppose there is not much I can do about that though, unless for some reason at times the loadout changes before the event get's executed to cut the sound... that might be the underlying issue...

A couple of things to improve on such as allow a projectile type weapon of some sort to be collected in the game or at least upgrades for the melee weapon. Also it sucks that you can't attack while jumping. Otherwise its not too shabby. The playable sprite reminds me of Megaman and the cutscene portrayal of the character reminds me of Goemon from Mystical Ninja.

2 very iconic classical references, I am glad you liked the game MrNotorius5500. I appreciate you taking the time to play and review my game. Upgrades and the ability to jump attack were all planned originally, I just didn't find the time to implement everything given my scope of time, and how busy I have been with everything else. Not to mention I just started using Construct2 after learning about this competition. Anyways, thanks again, I am glad you liked the game!

I love the look of this game and wish my ppl would make games in this style. Good stufff.

Sprites look good, but the platforming is kind of boring. The jump kind of hangs in the air a bit too much and the sword swings a little slow. With that and the non-threatening enemies, the beginning starts off really slow, and the instant spike death makes me not want to bother starting over. Not being able to see below you is a huge nuisance. I died twice around the first couple skeletons, and I was just too bored to try again.

I thank you for your helpful review... I haven't had much experience making games, so your insight is very helpful. I understand how the jumping can be a little slow and hard to deal with, but the sword swings in 2 frames, IDK how that can be considered too slow, so if you would enlighten me there. I was also thinking about adding a skeleton a little earlier on to make the game more interesting as you had pointed out, as I did feel the same about the non-threatening enemies. Anyways, I am glad you at least liked the game's art style... perhaps in the future, taking in your insight, I will have a much more polished and better game overall!

Thanks, I appreciate your review. Also, thanks for pointing out that the game doesn't work on Safari or Yosemite. I'm mostly a dedicated sprite artist, so as far as actually developing games, I'm fairly new, and didn't think to point out what browsers the game won't work with or has issues on. I am glad that you liked what I had to show for my game though. Thanks again.
