Not bad`!

Joben7 responds:

Thank you!

Few Bugs aren't going to ruin this

Few bugs I've Encountered thus far have a lot to do with elevators
Going down sometimes on an elevator will leave the screen positioned to where you were, instead of your destination

If you die and have called an elevator, when you re-spawn it will still be up/down, thus it can lead to you being stuck behind an elevator wall and having to re-start the game.... AGAIN.

Jumping while going upward on the elevator can make the screen go to the starting screen, with you nowhere in sight

Non elevator bugs:
Holding x while walking makes you skate, which can occasionally cause you to freeze in place.

Dying mid air can freeze the entire game, no hope of movement again.

That all being said, I adore this game. You must realize this is fantastic, despite the game killing bugs. Looking forward to see what else you can do, kudos.

Joben7 responds:

Wow thanks! I'm really glad you liked it. I hopefully fixed the elevator screen bug this patch and I mostly fixed the holding X while walking one, you don't skate now except if you hold X then go backwards then you do the moonwalk which I think is kinda cool anyway :P

Really cool retro inspired game! Feels like an 8-bit Resident Evil style survival horror with plants, in a good way!

Creative use of enemies and pacing throughout the game so there's always something new to occupy you on the way through the levels. Ammo and health are just rare enough to keep you on your toes, but plentiful enough to give you a fighting chance if you're careful with them.

Love the music too, sets up a suspenseful feeling and the difficulty is a nice change from all the too easy games of late. Great job, keep up the good work!

Joben7 responds:

Thanks :D

The game mechanics are pretty smooth, but the number of buttons is kind of overwhelming. (Luckily there weren't too many situations in the beginning of the game that would require muscle memory)
The only other problem I'd say would be the sound--It can get somewhat abrasive. That being said, a phenomenal first game! Definitely blew mine out of the water in terms of ludology :D

Joben7 responds:

Thanks, I know about the sound but I'm no audio guy hahah. I tried my best and I'm glad you like it!

I really like the theme and ambiance but wanted to reiterate what some other reviews have noted. The first place you can possibly die is on the first plant, so if you die there it would be great to start in the room before the plant vs going back to the title screen and watching the tutorial text again. Every elevator could be a checkpoint from then on.

Also to help new players who might not have picked up everything in the tutorial, when you first grab ammo, it could prompt you to "Press A to Reload" - my first time through I didn't think to load my gun and was killed while trying to shoot the plant. When you do reach the first plant, it could also prompt you to "Hold X to AIM, Press C to Shoot", so in the moment people can be reminded. This would make a big difference in getting people into the game and ongoing checkpoints would make progress less frustrating.

Joben7 responds:

Thanks, great tips! I've put in a checkpoint system already and I'll add the improved prompts a bit later, I appreciate the help.
