Reviews for "Pokemon Campaign"

Nice game. The controls didn't take too long to get used to, the game was nowhere near as repetitive as the original pokemon games, and the boss battles were unique and interesting. Oh, and the voice for the professor was superb.

Now, a little criticism. I personally found that the faster pokemon tended to be better than the rest. I used wingull throughout almost the entire game from the moment I caught one, for example.

You had a pokedex available, but nothing for the different moves. Not a big deal, but a little inconsistent. It would be nice to know that bite was a regular move, not dark, for example.

Lastly, I'm a little curious on the stuff that I missed. I'm guessing that the secret medal must be for magic-carp? I also never figured out how to make the giraffe immune to bugs or dark moves.

OrangePylon responds:

Thank you! Faster Pokémon are sort of better (I had to make a maximum speed of 80 and nerf anyone who surpassed that) but tend to be more frail, so if you do get hit, you'd be more likely to die. I tried to balance it the best I could while staying true to their original stats. Pokémon will always outrank each other, but it's still fun to use your favourites. Being garbage may actually make some people like a Pokémon more (I love you, Ledyba).

I'm not sure what you mean with the Pokédex. The moves that each Pokémon has is listed in their Pokédex entry, and the colour that they are signifies their type. Did you mean a separate dex for attacks? Could be useful, but I thought they were all pretty straight-forward. Also, Bite is a Dark-type move. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

To get Racecar the Girafarig, you have to KO 10 Bug- or Dark-types along your journey and then return to the Youngster. As for 'Omega,' all I can say is to return to where you fought the final boss.

Thanks so much though for the great review!

Here's a coincidence: I got the Hiker achievement while at the Mountain. That doesn't usually happen normally now, does it?

Anyway, the game has nice design, especially the boss fights. Charmander makes the game seem a little too easy though...

OrangePylon responds:

Really? I've had people tell me they had a rough time with Charmander. Well, to each their own. The Hiker medal is just for walking a whole bunch, so it is a coincidence that you got it at Mt. Payne!

Anyway, thank you for the review!

Has a really good potential, and is very interesting ! Nice gameplay, different types of attacks, a wide range of pokemon...
There's just a few things you should improve to make the game more enjoyable to play...

- Could have better control : why not use the mouse wheel to change pokemon ? And a single key to change attacks ? Something like "q" or "e" keys that are easily reachable.
- Tips when you go between 2 areas are a great idea, but I can't read them fast enough (some color make words difficult to read)
- I don't care about Dexter telling me who he is and blablabla, when I want check some stats about pokemon. Same thing about healing my pokemons.
- Actually a pause menu, with the possibility to check the pokedex and the map (or a least, stats of our team) is missing for me...

Otherwise, good job :)

OrangePylon responds:

Thank you! A lot of that was out of reach for the programming abilities I had when I made the engine (I'm not 100% if mouse wheel controls are even possible in AS2), so they simply couldn't be implemented. These are all aspirations for a group of developers more ambitious and capable than me; I'm just proud I got this far!

Awesome Game and and it looks cool too!
but what I dont get is that why does it take so long to level up and why every pokemon share the same health bar

OrangePylon responds:

Pokémon share the same HP because boss fights became too easy on more than one life. The level curve was designed so that you'd never need to go above level 10 (levels don't make that big a difference anyway).

Thank you so much though! That's kind of you.

This has so much potential...basically its league of legend but pokemon version and better~

OrangePylon responds:

Better than League of Legends! You heard it here first, folks. I'm waiting on my buyout, Riot.

Thank you.
