Reviews for "Playing With Letters"

Loved this - the atmosphere is wonderful and builds as you learn more about the killer you're hunting. A huge amount is achieved using only text and sound engineering and despite it's short length there is replay value due to a secret ending.

'Playing With Letters' is deceptively simple - absolutely try it if you like puzzles or interesting, creepy thrillers and horror.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you for the nice review, Quimwaffler!
It's great that almost all the reviewers have enjoyed the atmosphere, and especially the music. I also like to consider myself a writer, although I rarely publish anything I make in for of text. That's why I'm happy I managed to combine storytelling with gaming, although this is very different from the stories I'd usually write were this not a game XD

Wow, this is really weird. It says that there are boxes in front, but I don't see any boxes. I wish everything was more clear. Then again, I guess it would have been too easy. The music is great. I'm not good at these kinds of games.

I still praise you for being creative. That's exactly what you did with this! I'm so glad to find something so interesting. I'll never get past it, but it's great to be aware of. You are quite creative.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Wow dude, you've written an extreme amount of reviews! Great job! :D

Lol XD I think the point of text adventures is for the player to paint the image themselves :p
I'm glad you liked the music, and I definitely get that this genre of games is not for everyone.

I'm also sure that you could totally beat the game if you got a pointer in the right direction, because the first real level that you're at is pretty much the most difficult one, as it's a somewhat unique game, if I dare say it. I thank you for the compliments!

That was damn challenging! So much so that i had almost given up, especially at the Reverse puzzle. THankfully, i realized the titles of the "acheivements" section gave small hints, and i eventually figured it out. The "real" ending was chilling, but still liked the secret one better. Also i totally would never have found it without your help in the description :(

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Nicely noticed. Some of the achievements do indeed give hints, especially the one on that level. Great job for beating the game!
Actually, the secret ending is the real ending, while the first one only hints at what is happening. I should've made it much easier to get to though :D

Thanks for playing ;)

I'm sitting there trying to get past the opening thinking it was a 2 not at Z.
God I'm dumb

Other than that I love this game very tricky and I did have trouble figuring out most of them! Will there be a sequel?

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Don't worry hahha, you're not the only one to fall for that trap XD

There will be a sequel eventually, but it'll take quite a while before it's finished. Thanks a lot :)!

That's a really good puzzle. The riddles might be a bit harder - just a tiny little bit - so they would take a bit more time and work to get the answer. Music is great, story is a bit cliché but still good. Ending is a bit disappointing, albeit unexpected. By that I mean, I didn't expect this to happen, I just expected more.
Great game, but it could be better.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Yeah, well. As you can see from the guy below, I think the difficulty is okay. I get equal parts saying it's a bit too easy, and a bit too hard, and some saying it's perfect, so I think it's fine in the end. But I do get what you mean nonetheless.

I personally would've wanted the game to be longer, but I guess that is why I'm going to make a sequel ;)
Thanks!
