Reviews for "Playing With Letters"

Oh my god this game gave me the chills! I loved how the story was kind of connected at the end but there are still questions unanswered. Loved the game hope you make a sequel! :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, ChaoticDerp!
I'm getting more and more certain that I should make a sequel, and I will make sure to make it connected to everything else too ;)

Amazing game, i am a fan of text based games myself and this one is one of the greatest, it has a great atmosphere, the music complemented amazingly, even though i used anagram solvers and text reversers to solve the puzzles i still thought i did it all on my own, and the endings were fantastic! it just would have been nice to add something in the game to give the player a hint about the song, maybe he would tell us the song's name and from there we could solve it ourselves, but overall great game, i would really like to see more of your games in the future.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you, Matheuzinho!
I'm pleased to hear that pretty much everyone enjoyed the music and the atmosphere, as that was a very heavy point of focus in this game. It's certainly allowed to use anagram solvers and the like for this game. A big part of the puzzle is even knowing what the puzzle is in the first methods. any tools are fine :)

In retrospect, leaving some more hints about the secret ending would've been a good idea. But alas, it is a little late now. Something to think about in the future for sure!
I hope to make some good games in the future as well. If you like puzzles though, there is already an older game of mine called "D-Pression" uploaded to Newgrounds. it is a platformer, and the story/text isn't too impressive, but the puzzles and the atmosphere should make for an enjoyable time.

Thank you!

When I discovered the final answer, chills went down my spine. That was creepy. Stop that.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I'm glad to hear that the ending pleased you! It was the basis for the making of the game, pretty much :)
Thanks for playing! :D

I had seen your sequel and saw that you recommended to play this game first, so I did. The game was astounding and I can't wait to play your sequel. The only thing that was a bit hard was that I had gotten the first real puzzle right, but I didn't think of making it one word, so I was stumped for quite a while. Otherwise, I loved every single word play used in this game. It was very clever. Additionally, I love that the letters alluded to the background story. Before you receive all the letters, the letters spell out "Nude Boy," and I thought it was so clever. This game makes you feel smart once you solve puzzles, and all the puzzles make sense. I hope the sequel is just as good =D

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks for the super encouraging review! Now I really hope that the sequel isn't a disappointment :S

A fair warning. I've been told that the sequel is both more difficult, and slightly better than this one (by my testers). You can find out how true that turns out to be, yourself ^ ^

Initially, I thought about using separate words for the first puzzle, but upon googling it, every result showed them written together. I think that is because it's an actual official word (as it's an old profession, after all),

Oh yeah, I thought about that one for a while. Nice that you noticed the connection! Makes me happy to see you really paied attention to the story :D!

Since it's a fairly challenging game, and you managed to beat it, I think it's pretty fair to say that the game doesn't only make you feel smart, but actually shows you just may be ;)

Holy shit, this was amazing.
The secret ending is way more frightening than the original, I'm still surprised I actually got it.
This game is a masterpiece!
One of the best games I've ever played on this sight.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I'm very glad you liked the game. The secret ending is there as a bonus for people who got really into the game, kind of hinting at the sequel :)
So I'm glad you played that one as well!
Thank you for your thoughts ^____^
