Reviews for "Antumbra"

Great game. It's inspired in Silent Hill so it's a must-play for me. I though it would be psico-horror when I saw the son dying, and the thousand-eyed man saying it's a personal hell.
The rotting scenarios and bizarre characters are so good. I loved the retired tooth fairy.
The puzzle of the hallway was very tough, I had to use a guide.
How did you made the graphics? They are so rare.
Anyway, the gameplay was rich and the scenarios were creepy.
Please make more games like this, maybe a sequel!
Thanks for posting this!

Vilehead responds:

My pleasure Roni :) What a beautiful and detailed review. About the graphics - I actually had run around my town, taking pictures and then remixing them in Photoshop.

I did recived your PM but please wait for my reply till tomorrow okey? Its 10:00 PM for me here and my bed's pillow is pulling me like a powerful magnet. I see what I can do.

I would kill to make a sequal. Actually, Antumbra is maybe 1/5 of what it supposed to be. I had to cut and seal so much content that it breaks my heart. But I've run out of time :(
So I had to pack what I had already and send it into the wilds. I also had no idea will people like my creation. So I didn't wanted to spent months of my life to develop something that might turn void. I wanted to play it safe. Now, I feel a lot more safe, but far from the point where I can dive into making a TRUE Antumbra full-time. But please, keep following me. If my audience would grow and expand enough, so I would know its wourth it - I will devote months of my life for 2nd part, with pleasure.

I hate to talk about money, but I need to be sure it will pay back to me, before I'll take such a risk. Being a husband and a father of 4yo kid and living in Poland is not an easy task. So I need to take care of my family, before I will let myself follow my passion. I hope, I really hope I will have the chance. I love you guys. I love reading your reviews and PMs. It came to suddenly. So unexpected.
And now I don't know - can I live without it.

I turned and ran then clicked the eye on the wall and it froze right there. Is this just me? Fix it please.

Vilehead responds:

Very odd. Lordmark? Can you please contact me via PM? Can you PM me your OS and browser?
That would help me a lot.

Great game, loved the sound effects. Game was pretty challenging but manageable. Took me a good 2-3 hours to finish the game and another hour or two to get 90% of the achievements. Left with 'Astral Master' and 'Dweller' achievements. Care to drop a hint or two? :)

Vilehead responds:

Thank you Daemonic! :D I worked really hard on the audio side of the game. Its actually my speciality and greatest passion. I tried to emulate and patch the lacks in various fields with super high quality audio. And who knew? My voice acting days actually payed back! :D Because YES - each organic sound was too made by me. Yes. Grandpa too. Lol.

As of medals... A riddle.
"One will come when the rest is had came."
"Dweller feels native in Land of Rust and Moss. He lives there so long that he became a part of the realm. And time marks his rank."

First off, this game was very interesting. Definitely a good head-scratcher. I have to admit though, it took a youtube video to help me get to the end. (guilty as charged; but sometimes I prefer a good push in the right direction) I think my favorite scene was the Go to Hell bit and the response you are given (trying to avoid spoilers)

That all being said, some of the medals I've unlocked in the game, but they do not unlock in Newgrounds. I know you've heard this same story over and over; but I thought you should know.

It puzzles me that other people have the medals, but other people (like me) do not. So far the Enlightened, Keen Eye, Follower, and Name Vector have not unlocked for me. I also want to report a glitch. If you beat the game and then get to the end, but before you type in the name; the credits start rolling before you can do the last bit.

Thank you for making an interesting game.

Vilehead responds:

Oh i am fine with the YouTube. So far about 8 people posted their Lets Play videos for which i am very greatful. I actually fully support Lets Plays. And no i don't see them as some sort of thiefs. And its a very good relation! I provide them content - and they send traffic back to me. And so i can create even more content! Win-win situation. I respect Lets Players :) And i think their are far better source of solution then your typical FAQ or plain text walkthrough.

Medals had been noted. As we speak I am updating the game with proper Medal-checker button, in the trophy room. This way you will be able to always click it and your medals will be reloaded and all the missing one - awarded to you. Sorry for the medals thing :( I don't want to look like i am pushing the blame away, but NG API that i use for medals is quite buggy and outdated. But this is not Tom fault. The engine i use to make games, uses 3rd party unofficial plugin for Newgrounds API. And it is the ONLY plugin for NG , currently available. Hence this mess :( Sorry again. I will try to fix this ASAP.

Oh dear! what a bug! Thank you SOOO m,uch for reporting that! :O This totaly ruins the flow of the gameplay. Hopefully i will managed to post an updated version before tomorrow. And this all will get fixed. Thank you again Kamen :) My honor and pleasure to have such players as you guys.

I liked this a lot, it's very different with unexpected twists and turns and the frustration that mimics life very well. I love what you've done with color and shadow and timing of sound FX. It was a really tense experience getting to the end (after many restarts). My only disappointment was leaving the child un-rescued, but maybe that was an illusion/delusion after all.
Do please make Antumbra2 when you have time and space.
Much appreciate the submission and letting us play here at NG.

Vilehead responds:

Thank you! Thank you so very much! :D
