Reviews for "The Haunted Mansion"

The small play screen made it hard to find what I needed to click. Finding said things to click was also a pain even when cheating with tab I had to click around that area several times. Besides this I really want to play what-ever happens after the ending of this one. I'm a sucker for that type of ending.

I think its a well scripted game though you might need to tweek it abit making the player guess around the area for the next part is quite frustrating esp when they hate to use hints to the point they give up.. maybe making the area to click slightly larger perhaps. the rooms are quite lovely and populated so it is hard to guess even where to start. like the keys..wouldnt the locked areas be in a box or a door the color scheme is nice it adds a nostalgia feel to it yet to dark to see in some places maybe more lighting in the problem areas..but as a first time game it is wonderfully executed well done.. im sure your games will get even better. keep the complexity its refreshing and keeps one going in such a game.

Thanks for all the feedback. Hopefully the next one is much better

Crappy graphics making it difficult to distinguish objects, bad hitboxes making it dificult to click objects, no clues of what needs to be discovered next, text which is either pixelated or cut off making it dificult to read, text text links which put the action on the text itself rather than a container movieclip/button which makes it difficult to click the text links, no ambient sound.

I promise all the hit boxes work fine you just gotta find em and yeah for next time I will use a containers rather than using the text as a link also in total I only have about 20 sound effects so it can be difficult sometimes. It would be interesting to know where abouts you got stuck in the game and if other people are having the same trouble.?

Prologue seems interesting. I was so confused when I landed on the first scene because anywhere on a small screen is clickable. I reckon you should change the mouse pointer to a hand when a hidden item is spotted. Also, it's extremely hard to search for something in a dim and dark environment although I had zoomed the screen to 200%. After many clicks, I turned on a light and found a key to a white door. I switched on a lamp, read a diary page, saw some blood, and found a key as well as Samantha's drawing. When I clicked on a door hole, lightening struck and the light went off. Something black appeared, I switched on the lamp again. A text message appeared suggesting I should escape from a locked door behind. There was a red symbol on the bed. Within a few seconds, the game ended and the journalist was killed. :|

Occasional lightening scares work.

Wow, what a mess. You can't get anywhere without using the tab key. Good effort though. Instead of insulting the players you should listen to them so that they can help you make a better game next time.

I do agree the hit boxes should have been bigger and maybe make a little more sense. I do take everything on board from the players its just that one guy kinda pissed me off by saying my work wasn't original when I put a lot of effort into this.
Gimme time and there will be a new updated longer version and a couple hints. Internet access is hard to come by except when I'm using a mobile but I can't post or updating anything using my phone
