Reviews for "Dig2China"

Thank you for the submission. I have grown up with games like this one and I'd like to give you my feedback. So first of all, It was a very classic concept, I've loved digging games my entire life so naturally this game was of intrest to me. After 71 days I made it to china, and now that I have completed the game, here is the list of pros and cons I made:

Pros:
- I loved that the upgrades were visible and you could see the progress of your machine.
- I loved the kid with the shovel who had a new line almost every single loading screen.
- I loved the concept of the "core" and how the underground was reversed on the other side.
- The boost was a great touch, without it the game would have been a lot slower.
- I loved the different ways to start off the dig, either my spamming the space bar or timing the moment to hit it.

Cons:
- The radar was useless until you unlocked the third and final part.
- The radar was up at the top right, which meant I had to focus on that instead of my actual machine.
- why did the huge gems cost as much as the small ones... (that doesn't impede gameplay..but still)
- the cut scenes seemed a bit rushed, they could have been a bit more polished (I think)
- When you start off a dig you are sometimes propelled into hurtful objects and there is literally nothing the player can do about it.

Overall, great job. I was entertained the whole way through, there was obviously a lot of work put into this game and it was clear to see. Its always easier to criticize a piece of work then it is to create one but I hope my criticism is constructive enough for you. Thanks for the entertainment, best of luck.

innersloth responds:

Thanks for such great feedback! We made a lot of design choices and now that the votes are in, some paid off and some didn't. We're working on a post-mortem about how it all went down. I think we'll be hitting all of your points.

Really fun game overall, the one problem I could see through two hours of playing is that the radar is pretty useless. That's literally the only problem I have with this game.

I played the game for maybe a good hour and it was pretty good! But just randomly my game "crashed" and it won't let me continue anymore but other than that this is a pretty good time consumer and can be fun if you like these kinds of games! So I would have to rate this 4/5 just for that glitch and a few other things but nothing too serious!

Sincerely,
Zion

innersloth responds:

We're sorry to hear it crashed for you. Could you PM with details on what was happening at the time? And I'm especially curious at what "Won't let you continue anymore" means. Does that mean a refresh didn't fix the game? Or that you lost your save?

You won't fix the bug with firefox? too bad but I aint gonna use another browser for one single flash game when all the others work.

innersloth responds:

Sorry you can't play our game, but the problem is actually IN FIREFOX. We can't "fix" it without redesigning how the ground and radars work to remove the alpha layering. :\

What the hell are these controls, man? "Launching" games like this are an established genre, why'd you go and reinvent the wheel? I mean, tap to launch (cus I just love having to stop playing because the tendon in my index finger hurts), drag to boost (what in the actual shit) and click and hold to turn (as opposed to just pointing the mouse where you want to go).

I also feel like the difference between the various different kinds of objects isn't clear enough. Generally when objects in a video game serve radically different purposes, they're distinguished visually in more ways than just being different objects. A rusty old safe looks just as much like something I'd want to avoid as a big rock. The rock should be black and spiky, the safe should be glimmering and golden. They need to feel different, not just look different.
