Reviews for "The Enchanted Cave 2"

Simple, polished, well done. Just purchased on steam!

Tons of fun, but beware- the "save" function only works if you quit on the same screen on which you saved. I was curious about what the guy in the inn who wants the berries, so I got to Level 40 after finding some berries, saved the game, and then used my wings. He told me to come back tomorrow, and the only way I figured that "tomorrow" was possible was to re-enter the cave, so I did that, found some wings, and came back. I found out about what he made for me, which was cool, but I decided that the time I'd put in getting to where I was when I saved was more important, so I quit the game, figuring that I could "Continue" like I did 3 or 4 times previous. On returning, I could only "Start" a new game. No "Continue" option. My data is gone.

So, I spent several hours playing, thought it was cool to explore something I was curious about, and then found out that it wasn't. My whole game is gone, and now I have to start over. Bummer. I'm pretty bitter about that, but this is still a damned fine game. My only warning- don't get all fancypants and curious like I did- just play the game!

A lot of fun without being too difficult, or too easy. I was kind of put off when in the beginning, it said that you lose all gear when you warp back to town. But the Transmute spell and the permanent drops made this a breeze.

Obtaining the wings can be a pain in the rear when you are just learning how to play. I would enjoy it more if the NPCs in the town were more interactive and provided some benefits like side quests and things. There was one NPC that asked for an item in the dungeon, but when I remembered it and took it to him, he was gone.

Some useful tips if you are having trouble:
- Don't wait until your last sliver of HP to use the wings. You will come back bigger and stronger.

- Wings tend to drop on the third floor of your current expedition. So if you are taking a beating on floor 21 and have to gate back to town, it is not a good idea to start your next expedition at floor 20, since there is a good possibility you will die before getting your wings.

- Don't be in a rush to push the limits of your abilities. The creatures with 150XP might be a tough and a quick drain on your HP/mana, while the ones with 130XP might be easy. With some HP and mana regen, underhunting a bit can be prolonged indefinitely.
- The skills at the ends of the skill tree tend to be much more rewarding than the ones in the middle.

Really fun and adicting game! :) Mages are OP!
