Reviews for "A Koopa's Revenge 2"

Phew... Finally I can catch my breath. This game really held my attention for a long time, not even joking right now. You really nailed down the whole "classic Mario game difficulty" thing with this one. So many challenges and deaths and slipping off platforms and common sense-defying secrets (seriously, opening random invisible doors?), I just got lost in it all! I get that you expect us to use the Dry Bone/Boo suit to find all these secrets, but I really don't dig this kind of backtracking. Plus the secret finder function only works at night, which effectively doubles the backtracking. Unless you look for outside help (which I did), the game runs the risk of overstating its welcome. Even Super Mario 3D World's 5-character backtracking isn't this tedious!

All that aside, I really enjoyed this game. Tight controls, well-drawn graphics, blood-pumping soundtrack, challenging level design, this game's got it all! The bosses are a bit weird in terms of their strategies. Some have very simple patterns, while others leave no room for error (hate that Burgerstein). And then the final boss of Castle Mario threw me for a loop when I first fought him. You see, while the subtle missing-brick-in-bridge thing does tell me something, I thought it was just a minor graphical oversight. But lo and behold, you're actually supposed to entice him to jump on that part of the bridge to make the boss fall to his death. Didn't find that out until I did some outside research. Giving the fragile portion of the bridge a "cracked" look would have been a better hint. Really enjoyed the Final Confrontation boss, though. THAT was an epic battle where I knew what I needed to do, and only had to bring my A-game in order to succeed. That was a battle worth fighting. Even if I died a lot.

Now then, I'd like to make a request: could you update this game so that the Switch Palaces can be re-played? I ask for this because I only found out how to activate the pink switch after I activated all other Switch Palaces, effectively screwing me out of getting that for my file! I have the medal for the pink switch, yes, but only because I pressed it in a new game. I found all the other secrets and have beaten the game 105%, so this must be the one thing I need to do to get 106% completion in my save file, but I can't because the Switch Palaces can't be re-entered. So if it's not too much trouble, could you make that update for me? Thanks in advance.

Well, that's all I have to say on this game. Thank you for sharing this with us, and now I'll be focusing on other things to do, things that have nothing to do with a twisted Mushroom Kingdom where Mario & Co. are the bad guys. Later! This has been Mr. Br, signing off.

Lambtaco responds:

To be fair, none of the invisible doors are completely without logic. A lot of there positions have to do with patterns.

I'm also making some changes for version 1.1 that will lessen the amount of backtracking. Specifically it will be possible to collect silver coins without beating entire levels (And bosses) over again.

I actually only added the hint boos a few months ago. I'd almost consider them to be cheating, lol.

I was considering cracks on the bridge, but I felt they made it immediately obvious what you had to do. Though if I made cracks a recurring element in the level, maybe it would work.

You can already reenter a Switch Palace, but only after you beat them all. SPOILER Press l and r SPOILER The beta testers convinced me to add that.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate the feedback.

ı cant play wıth goomba

i sad

Lambtaco responds:

Things went a tad screwy when NG changed to https. I've updated the game now so it should work. Might need to force a refresh first.

ok so
i took the exact route from the "Beating A Koopa's Revenge 2 Without Touching a Single Coin | LTG" youtube video on youtube.com so i could fight dan and zangief, but i still just get mario

what could i doing wrong el oh el

Lambtaco responds:

That video was made on version 2.0. In 2.9 you also have to beat the first five bosses.

One of the best games in Newgrounds. But sometimes controls are turning into shit because of lag.

say i have a skill issue, but this game is pretty challenging. the controls are a bit hard to adjust to and moving is very wonky. still very fun!
