Nice work. I enjoy experimenting with this to see what will happen. Hiding satellites might be a nice feature to add, in the case that someone wanted to save an image of the lines only.

You could accomplish this by making it the same color as the background.
I wish you can create more rings, and that the colored lines didn't disappear after a while.

A trail disappears when its star travels too far out of bounds.
