Reviews for "House in the Hills.ver_0."

If implemented correctly, this is going to be a great game.
The level design is really nice and very just to the game. The ambiance really adds to the whole look and feel of the game. That 'child singing' element was really great.
However, I found, maybe a bug. Once you fall down in a water pond, it's not possible to get out from it (at least I wasn't able to). Also it lags sometimes (rarely).
Nonetheless, a great effort by you. Would like to help you in the story development and provide ideas if you want.
All the best!

HostileTree responds:

Thanks for your feedback, I've fixed the pond now so you can easily come out from it!:3 Message me any ideas you think will be good in my game and I'll definitely consider them

I'm giving it a 2.5 to not change its rating. I cannot play it, as my computer is touchscreen. If there is any way to modify this, please do so.

HostileTree responds:

Sure, leme try.

In the description it says that this is a work in progress, and I take that into account when I write this review. First off, the game is pretty silent most of the way through, so I recommend adding an ambient soundtrack, one that really brings out the creepy feeling received when playing. The POV needs work; at points I had no idea where I was going, so perhaps add more light so the player isn't quickly disoriented. Also, maybe give the player some idea of their objective, their goal, so it isn't blind wandering. One final thing (this is pretty small), the sound for the footsteps can get really annoying, so I think you should alter it to make it sound more realistic (you could add the crunching of leaves crushed underfoot, for example). Other than that, it's not too bad and I hope to see what you'll accomplish with the full game.

seems good...

It looks good and could make a great game depending on how you plan to expand it. I don't know if you plan to make it a horror, an adventure, or what, I haven't found any interactive objects, so I guess it's only the environment so far.
I will just sum things I have noticed while playing it.

- Mouse movement rotates the camera even if the cursor is out of the game screen area. It is quite annoying, especially when you need to move the scrollbar, go to another tab, or so.
- It might be better if the cursor was hidden, but of course it depends on how you plan to expand the game (e.g. crosshair, or a cursor for point and click adventure)
- It is possible to fall out of the map on few places
- Some trees are levitating (I noticed two in the starting area)
- Fireplace in the house (and few other objects nearby) has some clipping issues, which causes flickering if you turn around
- Maybe there should be ambient music aside from the rain, but I know it's just a demo so far
- The sound while walking through puddles doesn't sound like walking through puddles at all (it's more like shooting)
- There are strange green horizontal lines in grass
- There is no speed(/life) penalty for being underwater (not important in a demo, but don't forget about it later on)

That's all I could remember after falling off the map. ;)
Also, be prepared that some people will give you zero rating, solely because your game requires them to install another plugin (it happened a few times already), but don't let it discourage you. Good luck with the game, it will be great once it's completed.
