I enjoy these types of games a lot. The growth aspect is so cool to me. For a first project, this is a beautiful start, especially for someone this age. I would say maybe add a bit more appealing graphics, although I had no problem with them, there could be a little more detail ^^
Tycoons... This is what tycoons i like a waiting able to move to a different window with out stopping a more productive way of the environment of gaming society Great Tycoon! :D
While there is some room for improvement (there always is), it's still a damn awesome job for a first project, and from a young programmer. I can't wait to see you becoming experienced at what you do. :)
As for things that can be improved on this game, i'd say... It's a shame you can't replace directly a building with its stronger version, and have to actually destroy the old one first. That can be impossible to do with power plants and houses, as you can lack enough spare energy / population to delete the old building in the first place.
Then, like some said before, the pace is a bit slow, specially at start. I've often found myself having to wait and stay still for extended periods of time to build up the money i'd need for next construction.
Then there's the score issue, already explained by Epixture.
All in all, a very good game despite its few flaws, which are more than understandable considering it's the first game of a young programmer. Keep the good work, you have a room in my list of favorites. ;)
