Yeah not going to lie, I found it tough to understand. From what I get, the female character sacrificed herself so the male character could live.
If this was the case, it was shown poorly. There was so many better ways this could have been achieved, not to mention clarified. That's the underlining issue with things that lack sound. Your message has to be quite bold and straight-forward for it to work. Not to mention it's just depressing at the end for no reason. There is no resolve, the characters don't achieve anything.
Plus, if you're trying to go for the old 'cheese sad ending to make the audience think' just... don't. The horse has been beaten and left out to rot for a very, very long time.
So, as it stands the story was bad, characters were less then relatable and the animation was lackluster.
