Reviews for "Astro"

You're going to be big one day, It reminded me of a great game called Metroid.

Well, what to say
Pros: This game has potential, cause of the theme. I must say that the "abandoned and dark space station" theme is amazing. The jumping mechanics is good, and i noticed no major glitches. By the way all the props and level design are good.
Cons: First of all, wheres the story??? In no moment are we given any clues about what happened on the space station, or if we have any specif goals there. I mean, if your gonna just throw the player into an abandoned space station the least you can do is give him a goal, like restore the energy there, or find clues about the crew's whereabouts. Second, theres absolutely nothing but jumping on platforms and entering doors. I mean, come on, i beat the game without doing nothing except wander around for 3 minutes.
Conclusion: This has potential, but is not, in my opinion, a finished game. If you work on this idea you can come up with something awesome. If theres more to it than i experienced in my gameplay, please let me now and I will review it again. And if you need ideas for the game just pm me cause I always have a thing or two to suggest :)
Good Luck with this project!

This could be the basis for a more active game. As it is now, it is just a kind of maze, looking for the exit with no action other than that wierd alien thing that is encountered occasionally. If more of a story is added, with things to find and characters to interact with, it could be a great game.

Thanks for the feedback I plan to use the base art style and platforming of astro for a much more fleshed out game I just wanted to see how people liked it so far before I throw a lot more time at it. Astro will be getting a lot more enemies as well as better ai for the enemies, however I have no intention for you to have a chance to fight back. I want to to have to avoid the alien things as best as possible.

Nice idea and good twist, but the level design need to be rethink and the music change or turn off.

I wasn't expecting much out of a Stencyl. however, this game was okay, but it could have been so much better. There was nothing to collect and there was no point in exploring other than to find the door or if you were really curious about the game. You could have had the character take pictures of the skeletons or given him a weapon to kill the monsters with (why didn't the monsters harm the main character). You also could have had text pop up in between loading screens after you go through the doors to reflect the main character's reactions to the planet. It may have also been better if the song was a bit longer before it looped. I have to give you credit, though. I didn't come across any bugs which is rare for most of the Stencyl games I play.

Try playing Gyossait on newgrounds if you haven't already to see the potential that Stencyl has to offer users. Good luck with your other games.
