Reviews for "Little Merry Ego"

This is a really well done piece. There are two complaints I have overall. The first is that her perfectionist personality was hard to spot since the only instance is her trimming the bush, but the first two time I watched I thought the focus was the bad memory, not her as seen from above so that part of her was missed. The second is a personal preference that I would have liked to so her face instead of it being shadowed so we could see how she felt after it burst, but that could have been an artistic choice to leave it in mystery.
Overall though it was a great animation. It was very fluid and it was apparent to me the creator took effort in the finer details, such as facial expressions and body posture to give her a personalty. The piano fit perfectly to what was being shown and created an atmosphere by itself. The metaphors used are strong and were easy enough to spot.

From the title, it looked like it was going to be The Little Mermaid. I wasn't that far off because it does take place in the ocean. It was interesting how you were able to piece the story together with the images. True, I did go and read the author's comments because I was confused. It's just a very gracefully told story. I hope we can all learn to accept our problems like this.

At least, I think that's what the cartoon was saying. It helps that the animation was gorgeous. You know how to get cute characters down so well. The title makes it also seem like a merry go round. You know how to get a lot of different interpretations with just a title.

The whole style of the animation, the colors, the theme, is great, not to mention the art itself. It really helps to convey the story, the art style, and the animation flows pretty well too. The soundtrack fits it's place also. Good on you Hikarian, and well done deadlyfishes. Nice piano score ya' got there.
Take it easy.

Thank you, I can relate to this more than I can say. It is beautiful and honest. Very well done.

I'm not a fan of the whole "anime-style made outside of Japan" thing, but I think it can fit this piece in a way. I think there's a beautiful concept that deserves exploring, and I think that this is a very precise animation on said subjects (as literal or metaphorical as one takes it)... 4/5 for excellent idea, extremely satisfying animation and such... But in a style I think is too anime-ish. Nothing against those that can draw it, but if I want to see something in an "anime" style, I'd prefer to see something from the country who does it best.
