Reviews for "Memento Mori"

This was a very depressing short game, but it would have been more depressing if it didn't suddenly cut off as soon as you fall. I have to take off 2 stars for that.

Mnemusyne responds:

Thanks. I was torn on cutting the music or not, but I decided that if I was going to represent death by removing the visuals I might as well do it with the audio too. It's a bigger impact.

Well this was depressing. I do believe there is an afterlife, but it's still depressing to be reminded that death is unavoidable. Well, I'm gonna go find something happier to play now.

Dark, to say the least. I'd say these are the thoughts of an atheist, pessimist or maybe... Just a realist. Death is something that has had humans curious for it's entire existence, ever since we gained the ability to think rationally, making up countless explanations, theories and the like for this, the final destination of life.

Although the game graphics and hitbox could be a bit polished (with the avatars movement matching the cloud platforms better, the edges and background having a bit more form), it's an otherwise very interesting game. It is short, yes, it has potential to be longer, yes, but finally it does it's job by in an interesting way deliver a message and a thought to the player.

As for music, style and concept, I have nothing to complain about. Using the thought bubbles as platforms was a really nice move, and the minimalist style keeps focus on the games message. Everything in the game does play well together.

Final Judgement: 3
Points for concept, style, general atmosphere, potential and composition. A longer game with a bit more gameplay or more twists (or a more heavily delivered twist) would score higher in my books. Still, I think you've done a good job, and you've given me some interesting thoughts to ponder on. Thank you!

Mnemusyne responds:

Excellent review, thanks.

Well, there wasn't anything new in this game. And the game was too short. But I understand your feeling. And I liked the music. So I'll give you 3 Stars.

Okay jumping game.
For DEBBIE DOWNERS.

Sheesh, why not just openly declare, "You feel young & full of life, but you're just rotting meat desperately consuming the living so as to stretch out one more hour of worthless existence." It's that kind of mental state that makes the world full of idiots as worthless as the black population of Africa. You're declaring "LIVE FOR THE MOMENT", but the truth is, humanity can eventually overcome the death of smart meat, but only if they stop wasting so much time of frivolous distractions.

And you should add one last line.
"If you die before me, I promise to piss on your grave, DIE ALREADY!"
Sheesh. "MANIC NIHILISTIC DEPRESSION, THE JUMPING GAME."
