Thing Thing has always been one of my favorite internet gaming series. And I'm glad to see that the series is not over and that there is still more to come. So when I saw this, I thought to myself "Fuck yeah" ... however I was rather disappointed I'm sorry to say. So I'll sort out what I like and don't like.
Pros
First off this game looks, sounds and runs awesomely!!! I love how you added dying sounds to the enemies giving more realistic feels to it.
In edition the collecting of more than just ammo but briefcases, health and more is pretty cool.
Graphically this is beautiful and hasn't fallen short to Thing Things predecessors.
I am a tad bit disappointed at the weapon system to how you need to progress to unlock weapons, but I digress, it adds some challenge and fun.
Cons
While the game looked and played wonderful it had some major downsides.
First off is the time system. I'm sorry but I absolutely hated this. I loved how in previous Thing Thing Arena games you could go for hours if you wanted to and just slaughter left and right! It was so much fun, now this time thing really is a pain in the ass. Two to Three minutes is nowhere near enough time to do all 9 objectives needed to pass ESPECIALLY THE ONE TO COMPLETE ALL OBJECTIVES IN ONE ROUND!!! I love a challenge, but this is just overkill. Maybe don't make time not a factor, but give much more time and regenerating time bonuses so it isn't impossible. Maybe even shorten the time as the levels progress that makes sense.
Next thing which plagued me during Thing Thing 4 was a lack of customization. And while you certainly give newer and more interesting pieces, I miss the bandoleer jacket and the bandanna options. Also giving us the looks of the bosses in the series was a great idea. Unlock them if we must, but if you allowed me to dress my character like Poseidon, I would have a complete game (yes Poseidon is my favorite boss)
The final thing I didn't like was the weapon system. Sure I like the idea of having to progress to get the better firepower, and it was fair that you don't give the enemy stronger weapons than your own, but seriously the two weapon capacity is just so annoying to me now. And where's my melee weapon? I've died so many times because I lacked a melee weapon. I'm not saying carry every gun in the game, but give us much more than just two firearms. And please bring back duel wielding.
Final Verdict
Overall this was a fun way to return to Thing Thing. With new customization, noises and some new challenges it was a nice touch. However the time, weapon and progression system is severely flawed to the point where I don't want to play the game anymore and just return to its predecessors, which personally I don't wanna do. It's a nice comeback with great potential but it needs some severe work done. I know games take time and effort and I severely hope you read this and take into consideration of what I've said and make some future updates making the game fairer and more engrossing to the players and fans of the series.
P.S. I'm not hating just constructive criticizing. I am an artist myself and have an appreciation for what the game has but am offering advice so don't take this harshly please. Also if you put in a sniper rifle into this game, I WILL BE SO DAMN HAPPY!!! And if it's not too much to ask a Poseidon costume in here would make this my #1 Thing Thing game, which I want it to be. This game has a lot of potential.
