Reviews for "Slime Laboratory"

Ridiculously hard starting from level 3, what the hell?

nice concept, but you appear to be confusing challenging with stupidity.
some levels were ridiculously hard. the second acid level couldve done without the goddamned laser, which moved SLOWER than the acid. come on, really? i stopped playing at level 14, the rotating spikes were too much for me. the perfect synchronization of the rotations and the constant direction change fucked me over. the third spikes literally catches me as i land. this would be great if they didnt rotate as fast as i flew through the air. the difficult needs some serious tweaking before it can be considered a finished product. as a rule of thumb, if it takes you, the creator, more than 50 tries to beat one single part of a level (if you beat it at all) its too hard.

Yeugh. As awesome as it is, even looking aside the fact that it feels like a bit of a Gish clone, I felt as though I was fighting the controls half the time, and the other half the time I was telling the slime to jump, but he just wasn't jumping because I was clinging the wall too much.

Perhaps one way to improve this is some control mirroring (ie use WASD as well) and/or having alternate controls (ie Space to jump).

The slime physics were nearly perfected, it feels like, but that last little bit you missed is what's throwing me off. The fact that it was sticking to walls made me feel like he could wall-jump; I must not have gotten far enough to unlock that ability, if it was there.

The controls are absolutely terrible; they're not tight at all. It's a shame because the concept is pretty cool.

Kind of annoying that you continue to slide for about a second and a half after letting go of the arrow. Some precision would be nice. Also level 3 is a perfect example of shitty level design. The checkpoints are good for a restore after you might die at the acid and then again for the laser, but also represent some "fuck you" situations. If you're going to put it so a person can't collect stuff after tagging a checkpoint, then at least put a Restart Level function in for when something goes wrong, instead of forcing the player to back out all the way to the main menu.

There was also no way I could discern to get to the disks in the section above the first laser mount. I feel like this was a moment that was utterly squandered--something the player can see and something they want, with a new skill to teach them in order to get it. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and people like me waste time trying to figure out what it is you're trying to get me to learn. Can you maybe squish up there with a bigger boost from one slime? No, that doesn't get you far enough in, and even if it did gravity will rip you right back out. Is there another way in? No, you can't break walls without being huge, and the last time you were huge was by the acid, and you had to give that up--and there were no other breakable walls back there anyway to get you to that place. Are there any other tricks in the Help section? No, just a warning about stretching too far. Great.

Help the player! They want to learn! I want to like your game but when shit like this happens it's frustrating and off-putting. I am not eager to go on to further levels where you can fart into my nostrils some more.
