Reviews for "Red Ball: Platformer"

Now, normally I wouldn't have given something like this a passing or remotely decent score so I figured I would explain why I did. Even though there are a ton of people submitting their "first games" with a similar look and feel this particular first game has something a lot of them are lacking. Forethought. The person who made this game actually thought about the game dynamics prior to making the game. In spite of what issues the game may have the player has to think to pass the game, and the game has challenges beyond the challenges of a poorly made game. I appreciate and respect that the author thought when putting together this game.

That is not to say that the game isn't without it's flaws:

1) Hit boxes are too big (i.e. you die when you aren't touching anything deadly (esp. spears).
2) The character slides around a bit much (you know like he is walking on ice).
3) It is possible to get trapped behind the first door and there is no reset option in the game (or commit suicide).
4) The death screen is poorly made and mocking. If you are going to have the death screen mock a person you should make it look sharper. If you are going to have it all colorful and childlike it should be more friendly.

If this is your very first game (and I do believe that it is), I really don't want to discourage you. Yes, it needs work and polishing but the important part is that you thought about how the game would work and what makes a game fun. I hope you keep trying and work to get better. So I gave this a passing vote of 3/5 and 2.5/5 stars. Keep trying you will get there.
