There are a few issues I had with this game and was stuck on it for a very long time. I finally had to look up where to find a few crucial items I was missing, like the feather that was on the right side of the cat's chest. That seemed like a completely unfair spot to put it in. Maybe it was just me lacking the sense of checking a spot like that, since there was something on the left side, but at least then you could actually see a piece of the chameleon's tail sticking out. There was nothing at all to be seen on the right side. I would have never figured that out on my own. I'm not saying everything has to be obvious and out in the open, because that doesn't make for a good point and click game, but at the same time this game is tricky enough as it is and has really tested my patience and problem solving skills. The second thing to peeve me was the broken dust brush. I only have 3 feathers, but I assumed I could have still put on there what I had. However it didn't work so when I DID acquire the remaining feathers, I didn't think it was supposed to go there. I thought I needed something else to fix the brush. Just because you don't have the full amount for something doesn't mean it still can't be added onto an object. It's very misleading. And when it came to fixing the wind mill, that was another lack of understanding. I thought I was supposed to put my 2 cogs on the bottom, with the other cogs, and I left it there thinking I needed a bunch of new cogs to put on the top. HOW MUCH LONGER AFTER THAT, when I went back to inspect it, that I realized no, I was supposed to take all the cogs on the bottom instead of adding mine there and use THOSE to fix the windmill with. Why would a line of cogs already be left on the windmill if they were meant to be taken down? That's ridiculous. They should have been hidden like the other two. I was extremely frusterated in the game to learn that. I consider that a mistake of the developer. It was frustrating enough to fix the windmill. It felt like one of the pieces were just going the wrong way, instead of it giving the feeling of being a puzzle. I had to look up a walkthrough to understand that the tiny cogs counted. They didn't have any directions on them so I just didn't think they counted. I suppose that's my fault.
I think this game is very clever and the puzzles were enjoy-able but over all, this game left me so frustrated and irritated that I just wanted to finish it and be done with it. It took me hours to figure this out and complete it, and it didn't even feel worth it. In all honesty the ending was very unsatisfying and disappointing. I didn't even understand the ending. Suddenly the witch comes in and instead of killing you, she just starts eating? The witch was outside of the house the entire time. If she could have unlocked the door at any time, why didn't she? She suddenly comes inside just for food? I mean, she acted like she was locked out for the entire game but apparently she wasn't? It just doesn't make sense.
I'm not sure what to rate this game. really enjoyed it for a while, but as I expressed my enjoyment for it turned into frustration. I felt like some of the items were just too hard to find. That might be my fault as I'm not good at puzzles. Still, I felt like the game started out really strong but left with a disappointing ending, but I do admire the complexity of the puzzles and how much thought and effort was put into this game.
