Reviews for "Kaigan: SC -- Episode 1"

Well that ended rather suddenly. I am looking forward to the next episode though, the fact that this has both OP and EP is pretty neat, and it mimicks the anime-atmosphere nicely as well, though it's always odd looking at something like this and not hearing Japanese voices, heh, bad habit. Contentwise this reminds a bit of Love Hina, it's got the same initial backstory, but I guess things will spin off in a completely different direction from now on. Looking forward to it!

i have seen many animes like this and its about in the middle of that list( by the animes i mean love story with action). The problems i have with this is the style is pretty sketchy, the muffle on the voices, and plot development. I know its just the first episode but i think there needs to be more to the animation itself. Otherwise, nice job.

You visuals and delivery and methodology are absolutely spot ON for anime. However the storyline thus FAR is nothing new and that worries me. Much of what was seen and told was nothing original. So I'm hooooping that this leads to something completely original. PLEEEEASE don't let me down! Everything else is spot on though.

awesome production.
but under all the pretiness is another power of love story... those things are for tv goddamn, and this is good enough to get itself on tv, nevertheless i don't like it the story is a repeat.

I'll give credit where credit is due, it's not a bad animation. The landscapes are pretty, and the colors are all very well done. The music is also quite helpful for the animation, the soundtrack really helps bring out the emotions in the scenes. Also, the story line certainly doesn't seem too bad either. I haven't seen much happen (which is to be expected, since it's only ep. 1), but it has all the hallmarks of a possibly good story.
However, despite the good things of this animation, I am troubled by the re-hashed anime style. You are clearly a talented animator, and I understand that you are appealing to select group of people by creating something like inuyasha, naruto, etc. But, I would challenge you to push the boundaries of your animation. Instead of reusing the emotions created by anime (lightning between eyes of people, black shadow the eyes of a character, etc.), why not create your own? Express yourself in a way separate of how you have seen others do it!
In any case, well done. I'm not exactly creating anything like this, so props to you.
