I can give you a little advice I learnt while working lately!
First, use references. Real life is the best if you can afford it. Do not feel the need to be completely accurate, what matters is pointing down little details you would not remember on your own.
Also, for shading, remember it's not always effective to use only lights and shadows. The best combination is two sets of shadows (superficial ones and darker ones), reflective light and light. It gives your drawings more depht and more color.
Also copy-pastying lineart is a very reccomendable practise and not shameful. Think smarter, not harder!
This is really good. I particularly liked the contrast of the subject and the surroundings. The subject looks cute and cartoonish but the surroundings look more realistic which amplify the distress and pain the subject is in. Really nice work, keep it up!

Well, firstly it's a kind of old desig, but I also think it makes her interesting looking and gives he a cute shape. Also helps to keep the 'blood' theme even if she is not using her powers
