Reviews for "Stranger than Fiction"

I really enjoyed this! It's a lovely concept and the story is well written and delivered. I only give 3.5 stars because I felt there was a strategic and mystery element missing somehow. Like, maybe the translation of a passage in one era being required to make progress in an earlier one? Certainly, like one of the other reviewers, I wanted it to feel harder somehow... like I was struggling to piece together the truth... If you were going to redo something like this, it could be fun to play around with different writing styles - like, old Shakespearean English in one era, Clockwork Orange-style futurespeak in another - which would add a layer of difficulty. It'd also be cool if there were a sense of greater interaction between me, the linguist, and the other team, the archeologists. More messages from Lavendar, maybe, as my translations suddenly spur new and strange discoveries? Or a division between me and them as I suddenly start to discover what it is they're digging up? Anyhow, with all these random ideas I don't mean to lose sight of the fact that what IS here is really very well done. So respect, and thanks for the great game!

Could be a lot better with medals though.

Not sure if you meant to do this but you can't just automatically replay once you've finished the game. All the puzzles are still solved and it doesn't give you the ability to start a new game. I enjoyed the game, I just don't like my religion (or lack there of) as the focal point of games. I play games to get away from the political and religious stuff not to be surrounded by it. But other than that wonderful game, very new and refreshing, a lot of fun. Make it easily replayable and it would be even better.

SammyBloo responds:

Yeah, I'm sorry about the lack of easy replayability- you can clear your web data or play it on a different site(eg http://gamejolt.com/games/other/stranger-than-fiction/12758/) but obviously an option in-game would be best. Hopefully I'll have time one day to add that functionality in.

I always understood not everybody would be interested in/comfortable with a game about religion, although I tried my hardest to present an opinion while still showing both sides as neither "wrong" nor "right". If that's not for you, then I apologise. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

Okay satire, but not much substance otherwise. Cute wordplay in the jumble. Got a good chuckle out of "wonderfulp".

Lame and boring.

SammyBloo responds:

Well, this game's not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for playing anyway.
