Reviews for "BRICKOUT"

Not bad.

It's a simple and easy to understand game. Seems like whatever you learned paid off.
I feel like it can get a little on the boring side as it goes on. It could probably use a little variety as the game goes on (like maybe different music every 5 levels or so, or maybe the ball goes faster)

This is very stylish and clean though. The game's physics are spot on also, as I felt as though I had some control over the ball's trajectory. Very nice

3.5/5 from me

TStoneMedia responds:

Actually I planned on having "different" powerups/powerdowns, that makes the ball bigger, faster or slower or the paddle bigger or smaller.
Sadly with my limited knowledge I wasn't able to do that, so I had to make some compromises in order to make the january deadline.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Lesson 56: Make a text not selectable:
Click in the text and press the icon "Ab"(selectable) in properties/character, and the text will be not selectable in the game ;)
(?
xD!

TStoneMedia responds:

Ha! Noted! :D

I've always had fun with the brick breaker games. A classic. I dig the note book drawing look you gave it. Only things I could suggest on this one would be making it so that my mouse pointer disappears when I move over the screen.. and maybe making the paddle a bolder blue when you're on screen so you know you're still controlling the paddle as you play. Maybe some sound effects when the ball bounces and drop the music loop.. or have a few more music loops that change in a cycle as you go through levels. Fun game, nice job with your first dive into AS3.

TStoneMedia responds:

I was experimenting with the hidden mouse pointer, but in the end I had problems with it staying hidden, even when outside of the flash game. This caused that I newr new when I'm "inside" the flash game and moving the paddle again.
Hard to explain, but I'll experiment more with that next time. Other people can do it too! :D
