ok. i hate shoot-em-ups.
that said, this game was done very well. full 5 stars for clean pixel art, no bugs, good scaling of upgrades, and general game balance. and the best part of this game: the plot twist. awesome. you did alot with the limited amount of plot you used here, and ended things with a very thought provoking ending.
your story-telling talents are so good, my first thought was wondering if you might have made any games with heavier storytelling. if you haven't, please do. twitchy games are ok, but my favorites are more intelligent genres. looking forward you seeing if you do empire builders, or turn based games, too.
Hint for getting the secret mode:
After you win the story mode, the message you get contains "DO.NOT.FIRE". That what you will need to do to get to the secret mode.
