Reviews for "Katawa Shoujo Lite"

Lol. The way the story started off was hilarious.

Hilarious as the last, but I find that I liked the gameplay mechanics from the first more. Like being able to cut off your slides and continue to rise when you jump and attack in mid-air.

Also, soon as I get to the point after the chasm that lets you move up to a room from several platforms, I become part of the floor there and can't continue to rise into the actual room... God dammit.

ShadowWhoWalks responds:

You should be able to continue rising as long as you hold down the jump key while you attack. I thought being able to control the height of your jump adds to fluidity. Slide was reworked so that it's more situational, it'd be kind of awkward if you slide instead of run all the time.

Playing on NG seems to make the game laggier than usual, if you managed to play this on a separate window it might help more.

Nothing wrong with a challenge.
Nice Castlevania clone, I smiled when I realized what it was. I'm not familiar with Katawa Shoujo, but I've never played the original Castlevania series, so it was nice to experience what it was like. I'm glad the checkpoints are at least semi-forgiving, but as it stands right now, the second level is too hard for me, haha. (I did manage to beat the boss; as with most things, it's not as difficult when you learn their attack patterns and learn to anticipate.)

PS, I was totally guilt-tripped into not going casual by the 'recommended for handicapped' thing... Nice keeping us accountable as to the difficulty factor, lolol.

"We're making it accessible to a wider audience." HAAAAA. That's good.

ShadowWhoWalks responds:

Can you hear that? It's the sound of glory for beating the game with your balls to the wall.
You mastered all of the weapons, got all the patterns down, know when to jump&swing and when not to.
Nobody spoon-fed you or gave you baby steps or tried to shove philosophical 2deep4u down your throat.
You started as a blank slate and took everything the rough way, and now you own this goddamn game, this game is your bitch.

Something to fight for.

Well made overall. Fun theme. Gameplay works well.

Is it normal to get damaged on contact with ennemy, when we do the slide attack? makes it completely useless. I dont mind getting delayed or slowed down as i go back up from doing one (making spamming it not an option), but getting damaged when i attack? Hell no.

And the difficulty is real high, even at the "low" settings, ennemy placement and design is just evil.

I suppose its a nice nod to the old castlevanias, never played them. And if this one is any indication, i don't have the patience to grind/fight my way through it.

All in all, good job, even if it wasnt my favorite kind of game.

ShadowWhoWalks responds:

sliding is meant for dodging, it's not really an attack. Use it as an evasive maneuver or something. The kicking damage is just an added bonus, you can skillfully deflect projectiles or kill off small enemies if you slide at the right moment.

nice story and i especially loved the castlevania style gameplay
