Reviews for "Trap: Volume One"

I don't understand the appeal in this game. It is very ugly looking and the music is so boring. Seriously, I would have scratched out my eyes and ears if I sat and played it any longer. The game's flow feels very unnatural and the whole "hold your mouse" crap is annoying. First off why should I hold the mouse, and secondly you can actually cheat the game by letting go of the mouse and moving it to another position before holding again. That way you can completely avoid all the obstacles.

There's no general theme. It is just a generic mouse-driven game where you collect items on a screen without purpose or reason. Don't get me wrong, you don't need a story behind the game, you just need something creative to keep me hooked.

As far as rhythm games go this has very little effort put into it. I use to play tons of games in the rhythm collection, they were my favorite games to play on Newgrounds when I first got interested into it, but this game just feels and looks terrible.

I think you need to find a better aesthetic appeal. No cats and hearts floating through space. The game lacks consistency. That doesn't make it "random" it just makes it bad to look at. Colors could use some sprucing up as well. Also why is the most important bar in the game, the health bar, really hard to see? It blends with the background too much and is out of the way. That is the most important thing on the screen aside from character placement, it should pop out at you.

I know I got no medals in the game and blah blah blah, but this is a first view on the game. This is what I see, and this is what needs work. Tired of developers thinking you should play the whole damn game to give a review. No you don't. First impressions are the most important impressions and they often are consistent with the rest of the game.

So as a developer what urged you to post a game focused on rhythm and what made you want to use this soundtrack? Did you learn any cool tricks and what program did you use?
