Refrigerator Adventure is cute, basic, side-scrolling platformer. However the gameplay is extremely frustrating. The hit detection feels broken and in fact makes the story levels a LOT harder than they should be. Many of the times I died was not because I messed up the timing but because the fridge hit an obstacle that CLEARLY has a few inches of space between it or my jumps near ledges did not work and just made me fall. One specific example would be on the level where you have to cross a pool of water, that with the basic refrigerator will kill you the exact moment the player reaches the other end of the pool to jump. I tried jumping at the edge of the ledge to be able to have a second or two to be able to make the ledge on the other side but to no avail. Also jumping out of the water repeatedly didn't not lengthen the time a player is allowed in the water like in the first challenge. The ONLY way i was able to beat the level was to upgrade my fridge. Speaking of the challenges however, I found all three fun and fair. They had just the right amount of difficulty in them and were a nice change of pace to the game.
Another problem is the game's ending is extremely unsatisfying. After seeing a short cutscene in the beginning I expected to see a little short scene of my fridge meeting up with his friends and maybe even the owner of the fridge wondering where it went. Instead I receive a screen that informs me of the obvious, I won. I would have also liked after beating the game, to be able to go back and chose a level to replay with my fully upgraded fridge, maybe even a time attack or special modes, or even using the extra diamonds to buy even cooler upgrades.
Refrigerator Adventure was a nice timewaster and a fun concept . The hit detection, story, and lack of other options after beating the game however kept it from receiving a higher score.
