Reviews for "Crysthurl"

mouaip... funny but a little bit too short...

Ok. I like the gampleay, but it's at the same time quite annoying, as well as the music. Gives me a headache :L Sucks that I can't push a block, and that it goes too high. Also sucks that i cant carry it.

Broxter responds:

Letting the player push blocks, and to some extent, carry blocks, would effectively break the game.

I thought it was rather decent.

Nothing too remarkable about the game itself, but the concept likable and the game play both enjoyable and short. A few moments of fun and then back to life. I like the level design and the graphics, but the audio was way too loud and the game itself had tons of programming glitches.

Now, this can be expected coming from Ludum Dare.

For those who don't know what Ludum Dare is, it's an event which you have 48 hours to code, design, and ultimately make a game. There is no prior work or anything, this game was made in 48 hours. Which means there isn't time for bug testing or full on plot development. Also each of these events are themed and the designers must incorporate the theme.

Now being that the time it was made was quite a hassle I give you credit for making a somewhat functioning game, however, this site isn't Ludum Dare and thus I must judge you based on the reviewing format I use on Newgrounds.

This could use some definite work. The block glitches through walls and can get stuck easily, in fact you yourself could get stuck by throwing a block and jumping before it lands, that results in the block not detecting you on the ground and so you are stuck inside of it. Another issue is that though you have all the controls listed below the game it is still useful to review each and every one of them in game as well. Jump, throw, arrows, all worked on. But the audio toggle wasn't and neither was the restart level button.

I think the control scheme should have been altered for right handed as well. WASD are very common keys in games. Yes the arrow keys are as well, but the use of WASD is far easier and has a greater functioning rate compared to arrow keys. Often I find control of movement and some basic actions with the right hand means that the left hand can be used for mouse control (which isn't prominent in this game) or even to operate other keyboard commands.

Another slight annoyance is that when a game ends I feel like it should actually end. Like you should be done and everything should stop moving.

Difficulty escalation existed, but hardly ranked up; graphics were alright but repetitious environments don't give any dynamic feel to the game.

Good job anyways.

If I was grading on effort and the fact it was for LudumDare23 I'd give you 4/5.

You'll please have to excuse me and the 2.5/5 you received instead.

a nice game but short and kinda glitchy

good game but there are alot of bugs wich was frustrating
