Reviews for "Little Locations"

Very nice game. It seemed simple at first, but it turned out to be pretty challenging.

To get the secret medal, click on the "LD23" at the bottom left corner of the main screen.

Great platformer. It's the third time I've played. For those who have a hard time in the sand (orange) world, Jump up to a high spot and place your mouse there. Your sprite doesn't move along the x axis so if you use that and jump accross the blocks at the top of the screen found at the beginning and near the end of this world, you can use your cursor as a guide not to jump off.

As for the game, like I said, it's a great platformer. However, when you only have the blue world left having completed the green and grey world, and just having completed the orange one, you are sent back to they grey world. I think this was mentionned but I just wanted to make sure you knew of this bug. But it's such a minor nuissance that I won't dock stars.

NoLanLabs responds:

Fixed that bug. Glad you liked the game. That's the technique I used for the orange world too, finally got it after 50 tries or so.

The collision detection on this game is just perfect. The slippery effect is horizontal acceleration that makes the movement not so 'rigid', even Mario Bros has it, I don't know why a lot of people complain about it. I found a bug: I finished the space level, 23/23 and I was still able to play it, so I finished it again, it didn't bother me but I guess it wasn't planned that way.

I'm actually working on a game, first concepts and planning stuff, somehow a lot of elements match up with the ones you implemented here, I still have to do some research though.

Keep it up with the good work, I really enjoyed this game to the point that I didn't stop until I had all the spheres, also loved the pixel style.

NoLanLabs responds:

The bug you mentioned has been fixed. Thanks for the review and good luck on your game! I used Stencyl for this one, which is a great (and free) tool for making games without having to do a lot of the behind-the-scenes coding work, but there are a lot of good options.

This is a great retro game! Especially for being made under 48hrs.
My only reason for not having a 5/5 is that there aren't any tunes!
This would be a perfect game if it had a great chiptune soundtrack backing it up.
And what's up with gamers nowadays complaining that a game is too hard, or that the
controls are "slippery"? I had no issues collecting all of the orbs, it just took a little perseverance. Sounds like excuses for not being skilled enough to conquer
the game to me...

NoLanLabs responds:

I spent about one of the 48 hours attempting and failing to throw together a soundtrack, before deciding any music I made would just ruin it. I'll need to find some good music for the sequel.

A good time-waster not in a bad way the game was fun and always wanted me to try and try again but I don't know how to get the secret medal
