Reviews for "OokiCookie"

A very well made game! The artwork and soundtrack are both very suitable! I enjoyed this game a lot (but only made it to level 16!). Very polished indeed; the achievements were a nice touch!
Two suggestions to make it better:
Maybe change the hit detection a bit, so it listens for a hit on the center point not the whole cookie. That well help what sometimes made me angry. Not the pleasurable rage. THE ANGER! :-).
Secondly, and this is another change to the hit detection, change the hit detection to make it continuous. (Check everywhere the cookie goes!). That would stop the bug of being able to just pass through bushes!
To implement this instead of the traditional frame-by-frame detection, track the position of the cookie on the previous frame, then pick a few points between that and its current position. Test each of those points for a hit :-).
Overall, a very fun game! Stars to you!

First of all, the graphics within this game are fantastic! They're incredibly cutesy, and fit the overall idea of the game fantastically, along with the music! It looks and sounds absolutely amazing, so kudos on that. Having good visuals and audio really do add to the experience and immersion in a game.

However, upon completing the first twelve or so levels, things begin to go a bit wrong. Whilst blissfully playing away, I was suddenly whisked away back into the menu screen, telling me that I needed to collect three more stickers in order to proceed. Sure, it was nice to have this addition, it makes people play through the game to at least a half-decent extent in order to unlock the later levels, though I think it would've been a more enjoyable experience if it included a storyline and let you just play through at your own leisure.

My second issue with the game comes into this, as the difficulty curve is just too darn high! It took me forever to work up 45 stickers in order to play the final level, though I DID have fun whilst working them up.

Furthermore, the hit detection is a little off. At times, my cookie would just crumble, when I was a fair few centimetres from any hazards. It wasn't too bad of a fault, though it DID effect my overall fun whilst playing, as some of the deaths felt a little unfair.

Lastly, it's just the idea itself. It's a well-made game, sure, but when the core idea itself isn't fantastic, you can only make it so enjoyable. What I mean by this is that after around the fifteenth level, I felt like simply giving up, as all you're doing is dragging a cookie from one side of the screen to the other, with the only thing varying being the course of the path and the enemy types. Maybe we could've had power-ups to aid us, and mix things up a bit?

In conclusion, it's a good game, but there are just too many flaws preventing it from being anything better than average.

Om Nom Nom

Cute graphics.
