I had to keep turning the sound from high to low because it would get loud all of a sudden. Some sprites would be big, some of them little (such as shy guy stealing the eggs, shy guy would be little, even though the view is a bit closer, compared to the birds who are distant). Out of topic, I noticed that angry birds have gotten popular to the point where shirts, toys/plush, accessories... but like myself, I find it hard to believe that people play this game, even though there are better ones, I've played it and got bored after a world, don't see how people get addicted to this. Anyway, the movie was good, but it just felt like not much adventure was added, other than shy guy stealing eggs and birds launching themselves(?). I know new ideas are being spurred out by the idea of it being 8-bit, but I just don't think it being 8-bit would fit this type of movie, it would have fitted something short, and simple. Some of the parts took too long then needed, only adding more time for us to patiently wait for the next scene to approach, it's fast paced, but it takes it's times between scenes.

i found the author comments misleading. i was expecting mario to literally cross consoles perhaps maybe getting better in graphcs as the consoles got better fight the angry birds across the different platforms, each platform / console perceived as a level maybe or as portal to a new world?

First of all, this isn't 8-bit. It's monochrome.
The animation is well-done, I guess. It's just my opinion, but this should be done with Flash. Watching sprite animations in YouTube quality here is like cancer to my eyes.
The story is...I don't care. It's just Mario versus some birds. (I fucking hate Angry Birds)
Overall, okay animation, but NOT frontpage material.
Oh and your author's description makes me cringe.
Too drawn out. Way too much filler. This movie could have been a third of the length and would have kept me watching.
