Reviews for "Eggstinction"

After 20 seconds I fell through the ground and was unable to do anything. Game seemed okay... but really I can't abide such a critical bug.

Glitchy as all fuck

Clearly someone has played Heli Attack, because this is a pretty blatant copy of this. I won't complain too much about ripping off the other game, because I love Heli Attack, but it's definitely a problem. This has all been done before, and your game doesn't bring much new to the concept. It was pretty fun for a while, despite that. But it can be better.

The big issue about this derivativeness, is that this formula isn't that good in this day of browser games. There are only two enemies you come across, and their patterns are basic. This gets boring after a few rounds. It needs new enemy types.

The weapons are pretty well-designed, but there are clearly some that are just crap. You get a pistol and a boomerang at the start, but the boomerang just sucks. It does little damage, and the player has to wait for it to return to use it again. Pistol does more damage, and has a pretty good fire rate. Why even bother with the boomerang? And if the player has a long-rate weapon with infinite ammo (the pistol...and the boomerang, if you just REALLY want to use it), why is there a melee attack? Just to open the boxes? Getting near the enemies is a death sentence.

Another weapon I have a problem with is the Greaser. It's not clear how this is supposed to work, and I found out by accident. If you have the Flamer, you can do massive damage to enemies if you coat them with the Greaser first. This is great, IF you have both weapons. If you just have the Greaser, then it's pretty worthless (if it has any other effect on enemies, I never noticed. And if other weapons can ignite a greased enemy, I wasn't able to make it happen). Considering that weapons drop randomly, I don't think it's a good idea to have one weapon rely on another to be the least bit useful.

However, I do think you're on the right track with this kind of mechanic. It could add some variety and strategy to the combat. Maybe a weapon can be decent alone, but combined with another weapon, it can be super useful. Maybe the opposite can happen to. For example, if you freeze an enemy with a Freeze Grenade, maybe the Flamer will thaw them out more quickly.

The health system is questionable, in my opinion. The health drop provides a pathetic sliver of health, considering how rare it is it drops. The leech gun was a cool idea, but again, the frequency of its appearance make certain rounds more frustrating than others. And then there's Rage mode. I may be mistaken, but it seemed like Rage was generate each timer you're hit (the mechanics aren't explained). If I'm correct in assuming that, I don't understand why that's how it was designed. In essence, most players will only get to use Rage once, due to the poor health drops. It doesn't reward skillful playing either. I think that the Rage level should increase per kill. That way, it feels like the player is building to something.

The game controls well, but I think the spacebar should be used for jumping, not W, and Rage can be moved elsewhere (it's a keyboard, there are dozens of options available). Space is the natural go-to button for jumping.

The art-style is pretty clever, but that cleverness stops at the design of the main character. The environment and enemy design is standard stuff. They could use more personality. And I don't understand the idea of having red bullets, when there's a red background. It didn't bother me too much, but in moments of high action, and the player is multi-tasking, it can be tricky to distinguish between bullet and background. The music is okay, but as with the case of games like this, it gets tiresome after a few minutes.

Overall, the game has potential, but it needs its more unique ideas. Heli Attack was a great game, but you can't just copy it. This deserves some interest gameplay elements. More enemies, weapons, and levels would help too.

Its cool but its impossible to dodge the shots and when it charges its lazers because it keeps shooting when it charges.

Plays just like Heli Attack on Miniclip. I love the idea, and the concept. But it gets very bland, really fast. Maybe more weapons would help, and some new enemies every now and then. The consistency of the ship firing at you is kinda awkward as well. especially when it swoops down to use its trailblazer. the SHIT is still firing at you. What the hell is up with that? Lol.

Better damage output with some of the weapons. A full charged ion blaster should not take a tiny bit of damage away from the ship. Nor should a grenade do a pansy ass amount of damage. It's an explosive, it should do more than that.

I thought the only weapons that was useful was either the leech gun, shotgun( since it took 5-7 shots to destroy a ship), and seeker missiles. Every weapon just seemed meh...

But like i said, it's a great concept. I love dinosaurs so I have to give you credits on that, and I love the rage bar = T-Rex with lazer beam. It was definitely a win. But it could use some serious improvements.

Good job regardless, I would give you 3 stars, but that trailblazer, and the ship still attacking was just retardedly stupid.
