Reviews for "Pixelhate"

Pixelhate...you really must.

For those of you who are freezing at level 6, just try reloading the game. I had the same problem at level 4 and it seemed to disappear when I re-played the game.

As for the game, I think it's great. A new theme put into an old game is really inventive. However, this game is really just lacking in fun and challenge.

Obviously the object of the game is to pick up firepower and shield upgrades to help the player get through the endless hordes of pixel aliens. However, there is a point where the player becomes widely over-powered, and that point is within the first 15 seconds of gameplay. Getting all those power-ups was fun and cool at first; feeling so powerful and cutting through the enemy like a hot knife through butter feels great. Shields don't seem to have any obvious effects on the player, but that is easily over-shadowed by ridiculously wide shots that seem to cut through the enemies ammunition, leaving little in the way to kill the player anyways. On top of all this crazy firepower and unstoppability, the player can get bombs, which will release a flurry of pixels to decimate anything in the players path.

After awhile though, all this just becomes repetitive and boring. And by "afer awhile", I mean around level 3 or 4. Enemies seem to retain their initial resilience, meaning that all enemies are as easily cut through as they were at the beginning. To add a little difficulty, level bosses eventually need all of their pixels shot individually, instead of just a majority of them. However, that is not in the least bit hard considering the previous statements and your ships firepower at maximum strength is about an inch and a half in width. On top of that, bosses get recycled, so there is really not much to see after the first few levels.

Overall, I think this game was fine, but its real shortcoming was in giving the player too much power far too early in the game, and not enough variation in the gameplay. Both of these just eliminate the players motivation to play the game all the way through.

Decent delivery, but needs more creativity.

Naw...

I played till level 12, and I had lives going all the way across the screen, lol. The very beginning is difficult, then it gets really easy with all the shields. I liked playing later on better, but I quit because the firing mechanic is horrifying. I had no idea how it worked, it just felt glitchy.

The game really isn't anything new or interesting, and it wasn't all that well made, so I think a 6 is fair.

meh

I hate that the the cooldown bar gets used up even faster with firepower upgrades. And what the hell is with the subliminal ads?

It's ok.

It's a good idea, and it was pretty fun. But all those pixels flying around made it very hard to see the bullets I was supposed to avoid.

hmmmmm....

i found that it was alright but the fact that nothing happened, i kept dying and that there was no story let it down.
