Reviews for "Lab of the Dead"

FELT LIKE A REAL RESEARCH

The concept is good, in fact, great...
You had the right items, research, and reactions, and so as the reaction tiers.
The whole game really felt like a real research.

Including the fact that Hunger, Mood, and Humanity takes a lifetime to fill up or bring down.

One more thing, you gave 12 zombie types to experiment with, there should've been "distiguishable distinction" for every one. It just felt like they were all the same, with same reactions, same movements and stuff.

That's about it. It could've been a good game, but it was really boring. It was really slow, and doesn't quite give a great awe-impact.

THIS IS A GAME NOT REAL LIFE! If it's not full of action, don't bore your players!

Evil-Dog responds:

I kinda agree I just don't agree that it's a bad thing

Way too slow

The game is good, it's very interesting, however, RP comes around at a very, very slow pace.

I found myself killinw 15 zombies in a row, feeding them 9 live rats in a row and stuff to get achievements for easy RP, and even so, everything was slow, even after getting improved RP reward and Research cost techs.
If only RP came around faster, or you were able to -at least- skip already seen animations, the game would be loads better.

Evil-Dog responds:

I see I see

Very smart and particular game

At first its kidna tiring, the stupid zombies are just being dumb, but after a while when they start reacting in different ways, thats when it gets really interesting.

Evil-Dog responds:

Ahh thanks :D what I want to hear :D

Too slow moving

I like that it focuses on the scientific method, and can be a flash-point to get folks discussing the ethical boundaries of scientific research.

But as a game...it's sort of boring. It's just too slow paced. I found myself constantly waiting around for the research to finish, and short on RP, so I'd have to dawdle around with actions I've already done, over and over, just to scrape together more RP. Then it was a toss up ... do I research techniques which can make the research go faster or cost less, or do I research items to get more RP/reactions, or .. well, then I realized you can do ADVANCED research on items, and ... I felt like I was playing the zombie equivalent of "Upgrade Complete 2". It just seemed like so much stuff to spend research points on, but there wasn't enough interest in the game for me to want to get them.

I like your games, the art was great, the music, voice-acting, etc all came together great. But, I just think you could have picked up the pace on this. It is not entertaining waiting around for 30 seconds for some research to complete while throwing a baseball at a zombie. Maybe some folks are entertained by that, but folks that are really fascinated by the scientific method of the game would get bored by the repetition.

The ethics of abusing a zombie is also ... well, that's a topic in and of itself. Regardless of how amusing or abusing it is, it sheds light on subject testing. Where do we draw the line?

Every time I saw the meter read "Humanity lost 0.1%", I kept thinking it was my researchers humanity. Because some of the stuff he was doing was pretty unethical, even to a zombie. But, if humanity's fate rests on it, I guess we have a flexible moral constitution.

Evil-Dog responds:

Overthinking much? haha It usually helps if you're playing with your goals in mind, you're not seeing the big picture.

Finally a new prespective in Zombie Games

A great zombie game. I love how it focuses on the research aspect of survivors in a zombie apocalypse, its not done very often. Seeing how the zombies react to the many different objects and weapons is very fun...but gets pretty tedious. The story is pretty interesting as well.

Evil-Dog responds:

thanks dude
