Reviews for "Continuity"

Brilliance

Completing this game has been most fulfilling, and the effect that it has had on me is just astounding. Although Kwing (below) makes a great point in elaborating the huge potential this masterpiece carries, it's great as it is, really. I find that the minimalism that has been adopted works great for the game. I enjoyed this game immensely, and i'm sure i'll be purchasing Continuity 2 in the near future. Hats off to you, good sir.

the music

a very simple, yet new concept, but with a wonderful underlying music.
Reminded me a lot of "sideways", which also had this music bonus, imho.

amazing amazing music.

i havent started this game yet. had loaded it on a tab and then did other stuff. and then i heard the background music. and ive been unwilling to start the game and have just been placing the tab in the background because the music is so damn good.

wow.

its amazing.

bbrake = facepalm

bbrake, if you played further on, you'd know that there are more than 3 tiles, as well as dummy tiles thrown in. Also, note the name of the game; CONTINUITY. The sides you're running through has to match up exactly to the side you're running into. That's what continuity means, stupid.

But they're not entirely bad points; the fact that the sides have to match up exactly isn't made all that clear, and the 3 tiles did get a bit boring after a while. I stopped playing once I got to the first level that had 8 tiles in it; I just saw it and thought "I can't be bothered.". Perhaps some more fun things, like different items to collect (coins for extra score, useful items that let you jump higher or shoot down enemies) would make the gameplay more engaging. I really like the music, it's calming and helps you play the game by giving off a peaceful atmosphere that doesn't trick you into rushing the game and running into the wrong tiles and getting stuck. But staring at the tiles trying to figure out the way to go can be an eyesore; perhaps some sort of colour coding on the sides of the tiles could be used so that players can more easily see which tiles can lead to which without straining their eyes so much.

But all in all, a great innovative game, with excellent potential, although I feel much more can be done with it.

Game has many faults.

At its core, this game is a good idea, and is pretty innovative. However, I do have some criticisms to offer, despite the fact that this will probably be bot-removed because anything other than resounding praise for front-page media seems to be treated as garbage.

Anyway, your puzzles are all pretty much the same. You shift around the tiles until something matches up, move across the tiles, rinse and repeat. I didn't play all the way until the end, so while I'm sure it gets challenging eventually, it is still a lot of the same.

Secondly, the actual tile shifting doesn't have any variety whatsoever. You have three tiles, you slide them around in a clockwise or counterclockwise fashion and eventually something lines up. Not that much fun.

Both of these problems could be fixed by having a variable number of tiles. Perhaps you could have some dummy tiles in there, ones that trick you and that you don't really need.

My last problem is the tile-crossing system. By level 7 I had already come across multiple levels wherein it looked like I could run from one tile to the next, only to be stopped for some reason. You need to be more consistent with what works in your game. Just because I'm not going the way you want me to go, doesn't mean that you have to block me off for some reason.

All in all, this is a great game buried under some major and some minor flaws.
