Reviews for "Guild Dungeons"

The spam-clicking game.

This game is, in terms of mechanics, great. The building system is complicated and fun, but more than that, the battle system is absolutely awesome, with a huge amount of depth and complexity that kept me fascinated for hours. I felt like I was really organizing a war every time I sent my army off to battle.

The graphics were rather minimal, but the gameplay is the centerpiece here, and I'm a reader anyway so the lack of imagery didn't bug me. I don't think the lack of a save feature matters much, since the game seems to be of only short-medium length and the exp system works pretty well (or it did the one time I had to leave and come back).

But despite all of that, I find myself incredibly frustrated and unable to muster the will to continue playing. Why? The lack of a buy-x. I can not emphasize enough how badly this game is ruined by the lack of the ability to buy in bulk. I'm writing this review after losing the greater part of my army in an unsuccessful campaign; in order to rebuild what I've lost, I'd literally need to sit here and click my mouse THREE THOUSAND FUCKING TIMES. At the same time, I'm still one thousand stone away from a keep, so that's at least another EIGHT HUNDRED FUCKING CLICKS (since raiding dungeons for stone is painfully slow) and then I need--let's see--about SEVEN THOUSAND MORE FUCKING CLICKS for all the stone, fruit, and meat I need to unlock everything. And no, holding the mouse button doesn't work--it's much slower than spam-clicking.

*Deep breath* OK that's my rant. Note that despite all I said, I still loved the game--I did spend the past 3 hours and at least SIX THOUSAND FUCKING CLICKS of my life on it. If I could rebuy my armies quickly I would be right back to trying to kill the boss right now. Just please please please add a bulk-purchasing option.

I've sped up the auto click, new grounds just isn't approving the swf file. I assume it is because it is the week end. Sorry for the delay.

As you said, it needs work - still awesome!

The concept of this game is awesome. The art is awesome. The reports I get when my soldiers get back from fights are so damn fun to read. The game is a crack for flash lovers such as myself.

And even though you said it has a ton of bugs, it is not much that bugs annoy me but those bloody resources. I had to wait a whole friggin' day for barely any stone - I actually left my house, and left the game just to see what will be waiting for me when I get back, but game seems to slow down if I change tabs in Chrome - I barely got ANY resources.

Also, mushrooms are SO hard to get. :(

And there should definitely be a button to send all of your troops at once, so you don't have to click for ages.

But obvious aside, the game really looks promising, and is tons of fun even with so many minuses and disadvantages. I suggest you work on it all the way till the perfect end, because everybody would be hooked.

Oh and... some music would be nice. :)

Good game; No ending though?

Well besides all the complaints that every one else had and I mostly agree'd with such as: trading, troop buying, ect.

I also would have liked to see more integration of story line with the Heros. They seemed cool but not often did they do anything at all. The same with the weapon and armor. I mean I put the relay helm on my casters and doesn't even mention them being more of a help in battle.

Also I have to laugh at all the people who wasted their time getting thousands of each troop. I just beat the game with a count of *Spoiler* Henchmen: 500Conscripts: 1400 Boggins: 400 Warriors: 2000 Battle Masters: 300Thieves: 100 Gladiators: 350 Cultists: 0 Thumpers: 300 Maulers:300 Destroyers: 500 Gnomes: 900Mage: 10 Clerics: 30 Knights: 400
Lead by Singer using the white staff and chain coif then adding the spell enchantment Magical Bomb(Flame,Shard,Bone,Chance.)

Lastly So after I beat the final quest no ending? Not even an ending screen of "You Won!" Sheesh. But all in all great game i'll give you a 8/10 due to the problems mentions by the masses.

After some hours of gameplay 100.000 clicks, I decided to take Mount Helok, and after my succes, all I got was a "Ultimate victory" picture...

Hyptosis responds:

I didn't actually expect anyone to beat it, you're just that good.

Great game, especially for a first time! The resource clickfest was annoying but overall I enjoyed the game and reading the battle reports. I never personally lost any battles but after reading comments from those who did, I think future games need some sort of retreat option. Either let the player specify how many troops to lose before retreating, or let the player watch the fight and choose retreat manually.

Comment for players wondering what size force can win, I won the last fight with 1000 knights, 300 Clerics, 50 Mages, 800 Gnomes, 500 Warriors, 100 Boggins. Cinnacat was the leader with White Staff and Cave Harness, the minor heal all spell was in effect (4 leaves), and the gear included healing potions, dogs, warhorses, whetstones, ammo, along with rope/map/lantern/feed and backpacks/mules/wagons. I am surprised I did not lose a single troop in the last fight since comments below show players used much larger forces and lost.

I wonder if the larger forces people lost with might have had issues with combining knights and clerics with slave/gladiators or thieves?

Hyptosis responds:

Great ideas!
