It's a "game" but not much else

For a "precision" side-scrolling collection game, this is pretty much the pits. I don't see anything particularly new or interesting here.

GAMEPLAY

This is probably where this game hurts itself the most. Using the mouse to control the ship's movements does not feel intuitive. Additionally, the ship's movements almost seem to be delayed to my movements of the mouse, even after purchasing 3 to 4 ranks of the "Handling" upgrade. A different control scheme using the arrow keys or WASD may have been more appealing, but that doesn't really address the exceptionally poor ship movement in response to the controls. Frankly, I found it hard to maneuver around asteroids and other projectiles, simply because I often found myself dragging my cursor off-screen in an effort to get the ship to go where I wanted it. For what it's worth, the idea behind the gameplay is not bad. The execution is just severely flawed.

SOUNDS/MUSIC

The music is okay and are a major reason I rated this game as a 4. Techno is a little overused in this type of game, but it works reasonably well with the outer space setting. Meanwhile, the sound effects aren't particularly vibrant; however, much like the music, they are adequate given the setting. Having a different sound play for collection of the rainbow minerals was a nice touch, making it feel like you've achieved something grand (obtained something 5x as valuable as the other minerals). The sounds and music are probably the strongest quality of the game.

GRAPHICS

Like the sound effects and music, the graphics are adequate. Nothing spectacular has been done here with the art, but you've mostly just followed a trend in Flash games right now (lower quality, pixelated graphics). The downside to using that approach is that you're presenting something futuristic. So, this is a game where fancy graphics and animations could have gone a long way to augment the overall aesthetic of the game.

STORY

There's not much of a story here, but there doesn't have to be. In fact, removing the story aspects all together might have been an improvement. The worst thing that a game designer can do at any level of gaming is shoehorn a story into a game that just isn't there. I can tell that you wanted to keep it simple, and that's fine. But, instead, you might have just chosen to say something like this: "You play as a space miner who is out to have the biggest and best ship in the galaxy!" Sometimes simplicity is best.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This isn't a great game by any stretch, but it's serviceable for someone who has nothing else to do. After all, the game is free, so you can't complain about the quality but just so much. I would be surprised if anyone could play this for more than an hour without getting bored, because the game just progresses too slowly to give you much to do. Allowing for quicker progression would drastically improve the overall gameplay and reception of this game I think.

Valiant effort that falls somewhat short.

Copy of Cheese Miner

Could have been more original

Identical game

I don't remember the name of the other game I just played, but it was one where you collected stars instead of minerals and it was identical to this in every way except the graphics. Also I am getting a bug where after a dozen or so phases the game begins to cycle through the title screen into phase one and back again and forces me to reload the page and start over again. Very frustrating.

Similair to what mintman said

The game keeps glitching out, then when i refresh it, my game has been completely reset. Fix this, (and maybe add it keyboard control) and I'll definitely play this game again. Until then, avoid it!
