Reviews for "Plimpton's Video Falconry"

Ummmmm.....

I enjoyed the game, but i didn't get most of it. Everything was alright, but the minigames were kinda hard to follow. It took me 5 tries to understand that the "Joystick" were actually the arrow keys. Good, well done, but make it clear next time. I know you had to import it but you could've put it under the controls.

The Joke's on the Web

The best element of the game is the practical joke/hoax surrounding the game. That part, from the YouTube video to the introduction of the "port" itself, was a perfect 10. From the narrative to the voiceover to the photographs to the ediiting of the commercial: top notch, and you guys couldn't have done it better.

The game itself... ah, well. The graphics are a perfect knock-off of a 1980's era Colecovision game. The game itself isn't engaging. And the controls were flat-out terrible. Not in that you have seven buttons to control actions (which I wouldn't put past a Colecovision or Intellivision game), but that the buttons have to be at the very top of the keyboard. If the buttons were "Z to M," or this was 2000 and keyboards still had number pads, I would have found the game to be playable, simply because I could have kept my hands in a natural position.

10/10 for the joke, 5/10 for the game, 7/10 composite.

The game is challenging but simple to understand

However, this game could have been alot better, you stuck closely to the original but what you should have done was revamp it with new moves and enemies.

New moves could be:

Rape mode - you rape everything in your path but it only lasts a little while

Falcon Punch - you punch your enemies in the face and send them flying at other enemies. (kind of like pool)

Ground pound - when you toggle ground or air it will eventually be upgraded to an area attack on ground enemies so using your claw or beak is unecessary.

New enemies:

Turtle Soup - a giant bowl of turtles, you have to grab them when they float to the top but beware, they will jump up and snap onto you giving you damage every second

Bizarro Plimlpton - he's and evil version of George Plimpton that wil chase after the falcon and rip it in half if he is under you. (he is unbeatable, just an obstacle)

T-rex - basically its just a T-rex and you have to hit it multiple times in the back of the head, hitting it from the front will get you eaten.

And possible an extra defense mode where you have to protect Plimpton from zombie bunnies.

Please consider these ideas if you are to make a sequel, and i enjoyed listening to the soundtrack while writing this.

Definately Unique

I have to say this is the most unique game I've ever played and so once I don't mind the graphics (I dislike pixel). But there could be things to fix. Such as a pause button, restart button and mute. Also, how about yawing the other way? Or key customization? 1-7 keys aren't very comfortable and I would like to use my thumb (it'll also be easier for the fireworks part). By far, the best keys would be a,s,d,f,space,j,k,l,;.

so many buttons to memorize
