Reviews for "Madness: Activation"

Above and Beyond the call of Madness

I can honestly say you are the one and only person i have ever seen make a Madness flash that came anywhere close to that of Krinkles. The animation was smooth and retained it's smoothness even through the conflict scenes. I thought the most interesting and dynamic part of the story telling was the fragmented memories that haunt the protagonist, im still waiting for more. Also i was happy to see the subtle humor included on the walls and scenery of the setting, i still get a chuckle out of those funny faces and witty comments. There best be a sequel my friend. now onto the music, dear god it was to perfect for words it fit in all the right places. the Audio in general was phenomenal all the sound effects were great.. actually no great doesn't really describe my true feelings on the subject, i'd say that boner inducing better conveys my feelings toward your submission. good job sirs.

Thanks! I think....?

Anyway, I'm very glad you noticed the humor, not many people do. I just slip it in as I think of it :D

A few thoughts

Some people say it needs to be faster. When he is taking on multiple assailants or a guy with a gun, speed is important cause it saves his ass. Otherwise, take your time.

On that same note, when he gets in behind other people, I'm willing to believe he's super fast, but using the sketchy lines makes it look more supernatural than it is and it crosses with the style of the flashbacks, which you should keep distinct.

I like the flashbacks and especially the 'ghost' memories he has that clue him in to stuff. Although you don't want to overuse it, I certainly think it has to play an important part in how well he navigates his world.

The flashbacks themselves were fine, but the one where they realized he would regain his memory moved a little quick, text-wise. Beyond that, they paced fine.

The battles have original moments and some moments that are not much different than any other Madness short. That's to be expected given the inherently repetitious nature of the story, but do keep that in mind and always push yourself to come up with something plausible, but with a twist.

On that same note, try to make everyone perform a job. Often these shorts have at least one guy standing back doing nothing because it would complicate the protagonist's job. If you want an extra man, but need him to engage late, find a way to waylay him briefly or have him come onto the scene late.

The animation and music were standard fare, so no complaints there, but I'm sure you will grow increasingly comfortable with the process. As for clothing and character combinations, I think of these as new characters from the old and so care little who wears what.

tomtyke responds:

Thanks for taking the time to review my animation in Such depth, the combat by nature of madness being about "torso" people, leaves little in the way of what I can do, but I do have many ideas, as for the fast speed, I had to make some extra time, so it came from there, it's a Newbie mistake, and one I will try not to repeat. As to the sketchy lines, they are a protagonist only thing, this will become more clear when I add my next character.

Maaaaaaan!

The Hard work has really paid off! Congratulations. Great Flash, You added a nice touch to the great concept created by Krinkels.

A wonderful effort

you´re improved since the last movie, nice story and animation, i loved the fbf scenes and fights, can´t wait for more

tomtyke responds:

Have to have that ;D

Very good

This is a well made pice of flash movie. Well done.

Only complaints is the length and how the 'flashbacks' keep cutting in quickly. Though you did need to have them for the story.

Well done and keep it up.
