If you look closely the character's faces can tell a little of the the story leading up to this. the rest can be filled in w/ imagination
flight dude knows whats happened but has been dragged into this competition/race any way (he shakes his head and sighs)
bearded fish man firmly believes that he can win this... until the "oh shit" moment (his face has a look of simultaneous realization, shattered dreams, and intense fear)
I find myself imagining the conversation before this... the one that set up the bet/race in the first place.
