Great, Not Good
This creative piece is simply hysterical! The wit of it to me is the irony of subject matter contrasted against the typically serious nature of The Space Foundation.
What is lost on the minority of semi critics here is that aliens are MAKE BELIEVE so in a sense you have free reign to develop a character in any way you deem appropriate. I loved how you handled this, by humanizing the alien in a manner that makes him more human and likeable than anyone could expect. This was enhanced with one of your trademarks, which is to utilize a kid in your animations and further endear the viewer to the subject matter.
The reference to Temperpedic and the glass of wine was unexpected and made me laugh out loud because it is a perfectly classic thumb of the nose to American commercialism. It ranks right up there with clap on lights and the chia as one of the more innane advertisements of our generation, yet the product itself represents a pretty remarkable piece of creative engineering.
One of the critical comments made was that "you could have played off of real differences between the two instead of bringing up random things". I would ask that person, if I could stop laughing, what exactly are the real differences between a MAKE BELIEVE alien and a teenager??? (I pray there is no answer)
The last thing I would say about this is that I really admire your ability to balance an edge to your work and satisfy the sometimes stifling demands of your client. Someone wrote that you got paid for this and if that is true then you are actually creating something that someone wants others to see. There isn't a better tribute to be made. "Art for its own sake" is only a moniker of those that can't get paid.
Nice work and continued good luck to you.
