Version 5?

It's really hard to believe there is already a fifth version of this game. The tutorial is horrible and doesn't make any sense, seeing as you never have to press space during the game, although the tutorial says you have to do. The tutorial also doesn't teach us anything at all. Also, why do you have to use the arrow keys and space on the main menu and the mouse on everything else? It just doesn't make sense. The text is hard to read and there's no indication of what anything does. There's really no challenge and it doesn't seem like your character does anything at all. I appreciate the effort, and I'd like to see a version of this game where everything makes sense :P Let me know once it's been improved! :)

up-a-notch responds:

umm there is no tutorial...that piece of text just means how to use the menu!

More additions?

I have to admit I was a little turned off by the fact I couldn't starve my Blop... but I guess I'm just a jerk.
Other than that I thought it was kind of fancy. I was happy to see that he grows based off the amount I feed him AND could feed him bears.

Have you considered storing food items and such in arrays? I thought it would be kind of cool if you could drop food, but if he wasn't hungry (or if he was sick) he wouldn't eat it... He might waddle over to it if he's hungry and eat it, but if it's been there too long it might make him ill... Just a thought.

Also; I saw the save/load option... I dunno if that saves sessions or anything like that, but have you considered using "Mochi Social" or some other social library? Being able to post stats, save state and invite friends on facebook and stuff might open up your audience later on.

I noticed a few glitches, but they were all just animation based so a quick adjustment to the play/stop commands in the code should fix that up pretty nicely.

Hopefully this is helpful, good work.

Kinda cheap

Hey up-a-notch,

--Production--
Graphics are kind of cheap, animations are little if any. I have a feeling this game isn't really about the usual "gaming" experience that you get from it, but rather just a fun way for bored people at work to be reminded how unfortunate work life is. The choices of a hamburger, Wii, toy bear, and TV don't really make any difference to how the game is played except for arbitrary stats "smarts" and "food".

--Experience--
There is one mechanic to be explored within this game, and that is you earning money to buy several upgrades. I reckon if at least you made more purchasable objects, then this game would be a lot more fun. In fact, make at least 20 purchasable objects, ranging from pitiful to fantastic, a broken glass to HD TV surround system home cinema set. Heck, even a Victorian villa by the sea, while you're at it.

--Style--
The avatar of your picking sways his head side to side and now has customisable hair and body color/style! I would work on making him seem more cute, maybe even simplifying it, such as in the real Tamagotchi. I bet if you altered the settings and gameplay, you could make something far better than that thing.

--Wow Factor--
I wasn't particularly amazed, because most of the features in the real Tamagotchi weren't employed in this. For example, a receding hunger bar, dying if you have no food, a 'fun' meter, etc. The graphics weren't particularly amazing either, but you have the core of something that just might work, if you polish it.

--Personal Tilt--
In all honesty, it's a middling-to-crap game, but with a lot of potential. If you want ideas on how to progress this game further, you can PM me if you like, because I've got some wacky and fun ideas for a game like this. Thanks for letting me play.

Thanks man i will PM you

Well....

I didn't enjoy this at all.

Animation / Graphics - There hardly was any animation, besides things falling down, like the TV, or even the thing your 'Blop-A-Gotchi' uses to work with. So, that made it a lot less appealing. The graphics, not terrible... I have seen a lot worse, but that's not to say this was anything good, or new.

Story - There isn't one.

Audio - The sound in this game made me instantly want to press the mute button, it was just... Nerve wracking, the music, the radio, the sound from the TV... If you want to make a game that you want people to take seriously I suggest you really work on improving all of that.

Overall - Not a good game, wasn't entertained at all while playing it, not appealing visually at all, too simple, click this... click that... etc.
Not a game for me, personally.
