Killing those skeletons in the tunnels sucks, especially if you only dig a 2x1 hole and you find the entrance to a cave...have to dig around them and get out, then attack them.
My favorite way to deal with creepers is to find a skeleton, have the skeleton shoot the creeper, and if the skeleton doesn't die, find a zombie to kill the skeleton :)
