Reviews for "Super Pixelknight"

solid game. but lacking in a few areas

fun game. played it for about a hour and beat it. i like how it doesnt fll us in on the story with various cliches, like princesses thae need to be rescused and shit. but deff room for improvement here. anyway on to the game:

the enemys looked great (should i say cute :) ) and i found them pretty varied and interesting IN APPERANCE. but they mostly just jump at you, and... ima say thats ok. for this game at least.
just one thing that rly bugged me was the gargoyles. they are so hard to avoid when there are other enemys to distract you. you almost have to know they are coming.

i liked the weapons ...but it seemed like alot of them, even tho they were cool were kind of useless. like the axe one. it has such a short range its basicly useless for taking down flying enemys. and there are ALOT of flying enemys.

the shuriken was the only weapon for me!

7/10

loved the look and feel. but gameplay (enemys/weapons) got repeditive, and the boss was kinda a let down.

I liked it!

What I liked:
Smooth controls (I really don't know why this guy below me is talking about "clunky, unresponsive controls")
Really nice pixel art
Diversity in weapons and spells
The diversity in enemies

What I disliked:
While there were quite some different enemies, a lot of their attacks were the same. Most of them are just jumping towards you.
I liked the music but it didn't really fit the medieval/knight theme and it also got repetitive quickly.
When the screen fades in or out, it goes way too slow. This is annoying, especially when I'm game over and want to try again.

I couldn't get past the cemetery boss. This is probably because I suck and I'll definitely try again but I accidentally erased my save game by starting a new one.
Anyway, I think this is a very nice little game and I had lots of fun playing it. It is also nice to see two plassed creations on the front page at the same time!

Gee... This game sure feels familiar.

Oh right! This is basically just a re-done version of Super Ghosts and Goblins, minus the armor upgrades.

Couldn't you of at least tried to deviate a little more? Even the weapon ideas are the same!

Unless you count the crappy falchion, or the rather useful crossbow. Those are new.

Fuck it

Between the clunky, unresponsive controls and the shitty excuse for AI, it is almost impossible to NOT die playing this game. The weapons are needlessly slow, making encounters with more than one enemy fatal, the inability to guard or aim is annoying, and the levels are completely dry of healing potions.
I get that this is supposed to be a "nostalgic" game, but in terms of difficulty, you could make it less like "Final Fight" and more like "Double Dragon". I don't feel a good nostalgia with this game. Instead of feeling like I keep dying, but want to keep feeding coins to the game to see what the ending is, I feel like I'm just playing the only arcade game in the store, which just so happens to be a dull, uninteresting money-sucker that makes me want to sue the distributor.
Okay, I can see the appeal in this game, but seriously, take it easy on the player. Help us out with smoother controls, a more solid attack system and enemies that do something other than suicide-charge at the character. Engage the player with a simple story to give us more motivation to get through the endless hordes. All we have here is that "It is a time of peril" or some shit like that. WHY? What are these monsters doing to humans? Have they brought the apocalypse upon humanity? Did they capture the princess? Have they enslaved mankind? What then?
Final Verdict: Tedious

nostalgic
