Reviews for "Kung Fu Attack"

pretty cool

it's a nice retro game for havin' a nice time while waiting a pizza.

bitpimp responds:

I am going to have to put that quote on my site when I finish it up. :)

its funny but

the game is awesome pretty fun ...gets to be repetitive sometimes .mainly becouse of the goals !
the goals was what made the most irritating thing in the game! it just wasn't fun exept forthe simple ones...like killing a certain amout of enemys or beat a time ,catching coins is just meh ...mainly when you have a time to catch AND also enemys to beat. and as the combat wasn't fully on our control (thats waht happens when two bodys can be at the same place in a game)

but overall ...it was fun!

bitpimp responds:

--catching coins is just meh
Yeah, that a is heavy reason why I didn't make a medal for collection all the goals. I figured some people wouldn't, or couldn't get them all. I figured if I set a lower number of goals as a medal then the player could choose the ones that he thought were the most fun.

jawsome

Pretty damn good game.

Pros:
simple, retro, addictive, solid contact and cool moves

Cons:
slightly repetitive, enemy can attack you straight out of the door, which sometimes hurts your fall down rating if you happen to walk into a spawn and didn't jump fast enough

Overall really enjoyed it; for people who think it's too hard, I say it's not. You don't have to achieve all objectives at once on a level, you can repeat levels and focus on one goal at a time. For the final boss, I beat him in just over a minute.

For the future:
More achievements / rewards. I earned all the skills and got every single goal in the game checked off, but didn't really get anything extra?
Keep the good music and game concepts going, and the difficulty level is fair, don't raise it, but don't lower it too much either.

Good job, keep it up.

bitpimp responds:

More achievements / rewards - I was pretty torn on the issue. I really wanted to have a goal for all of the goals, but some people would have been REALLY upset with the difficulty of getting all of them.

Thanks for the advice!

It was a fun game.

I liked the controls and the gameplay. I did not like the lack of a mute button on the volume.

bitpimp responds:

Ah, yeah there is no instant mute. Just - and + for volume. I didn't even document that anywhere. Dang old dang. Sorry brother!

Good stuff.

Giving you a nine in the review, and a 5 on the Pico meter. Firstly, I thought the sprite work, music, etc was great. Very well done. The combat reminded me of Comix Zone. So few games did what Comix Zone did where if you hold a direction and an attack button you did a variety of attacks. Most games adapted either multiple buttons to attack and you alternate between them, or a fighting game style of attacking where you do a quarter circle foward motion to do a different kind of attack. Aside from basic beat 'em ups where you tap the same attack button for combos.

Difficulty was fair. This is geared more towards the achievement hunters, which I'm not one of. But I went for 100% just to get the special attacks that I didn't realize it until I played it again today that you could buy special attacks and then switch them out. I thought that was really cool, so few games do that. And being able to disable the shadow attack during the boss battle helps tremendously.

Minor criticisms:

Getting a combo seems unreasonably hard. It just feels random. I can hold up and attack to launch them and then punch them to death, and sometimes this combos and sometimes it doesn't, sometimes I combo off of Drill Kick or Shadow Attack and sometimes I can't. Wouldn't be a big deal but when you're trying to get 100% it can be a big pain in the ass.

The boss battle seemed a little lazy. It was okay, but you put up this boundary where if you get hit just once, you die and start over from there. And when you're launched into the air it's pretty difficult to dodge the boulders. So not a big gripe, it just seemed like you didn't want to add more variety to the boss and thought 'okay, just add a lava pit so if he gets hit once he's dead' unless you're lucky.

Good stuff. Hoping for more.
