Reviews for "Governor of Poker 2"

not as good as first

for those complaining about slowness, go to setting and turn up the game speed.

Compared to the last one, there was a LOT of bluffing, almost to the point of being predictable.

I'm not a good poker player but won both first tournaments and bought the entire town on day 5. I went to the coal mine and beat the two idiots hands down. The bluff a lot, but worse than that, they bet big and then just fold all of a sudden.

It was fun for a while...

but i lost 2 in a row where my hand tied winner, but I had better high card apart from hand.

Fantastic... but.

This is a truly awesome advance of Governor of Poker, with some really useful gameplay options, features (including customization), and not to mention kick-ass tutorial. I have played GOP1 to death and so it's very easy to see just how much effort you guys have put into this new poker adventure. There's virtually nothing to dislike about this game...

Well, apart from one quite troubling thing.

Sounds. Don't get me wrong, the audio quality and the realistic feel from them are near flawless, but what really bugs me about this game's sounds majorly are twofold:

Firstly, the dealer's voice. Yeah, it's a new voice, so one could argue that we're just so used to the old voice that we immediately dislike the change, but... I don't think so. My beef with this guy is that he's too loud, and tries too hard to sound human. He's too loud because when you're playing the cash games, it's near silent inside the place, which feels nice considering the location, but this dealer is still yelling across the table as if you're in the busy saloon - it sounds way out of place. By trying too hard to sound human, I mean him talking so 'clearly' (loudly) and /slowly/ that instead of the numbers he calls out flowing into each other, you can instead clearly hear the individual parts constructing the number. After a while maybe I'd get used to it, but my first impression from that is that it sounds kinda overdone, and let's face it, first impressions are the difference between wanting to download the full version and not, in many cases.

The other issue, and the biggest by far, is that the environmental sounds inside the saloon are /terrible/! Not because they don't sound like real chatter or whathaveyou, but because the loop is so /short/ and so freakin' obvious, thusly annoying. It's not a constant and smooth background sound, but more of a constant banging of something against my skull as I hear the high and low pitched quirks in the recording repeat themselves every couple of seconds. Once you notice it, it's really hard to ignore. I got to the stage where after only having played through a few minutes in the saloon I just had to turn the Effects off, only to find that it also disables the sounds of the chips and everything else. There was no win, and that was a real turn-off for me. I was relieved to get out of there and join the cash games, only to find the dealer had been beamed into our shed and hadn't quite figured out that we're not in the saloon anymore.

Finally it may also be worth mentioning that when I loaded the game from the normal page, my sounds after the title screen (or maybe it was after travel) weren't even there at all. I got them back after opening the game in a window.

I'm sorry if this comes across as a negative review but I feel as though you could really benefit from this kind of feedback. All in all I /really/ like Governor of Poker and if I were convinced these issues were resolved in the full version I would be very tempted to go ahead and get it. This is the best flash poker game I've stumbled across and I will continue to recommend this game to my friends who're looking for some uncostly poker fun (also to those looking to learn how the card game works!).

I wish you all success Dunja and the team, and I look forward to receiving a response and/OR some nice updates and news on the future!

Thanks for gifting the world a real poker masterpiece :)
